Clean Bandit Official Singles Chart

On the Official Singles Chart mid week update on Wednesday we reported that Clean Bandit, a new four piece from London was set to knock Pharrell off the top with their single ‘Rather Be’.

Now we can confirm that Clean Bandit would definitely not ‘Rather Be’ anywhere else other than Number 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart.

The track which features Jess Glynne has had an incredible week and the quartet who are brothers Jack and Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto and Neil Amin-Smith have sold 163,000 copies over the past seven days.

January 2014 has been a busy month for chart toppers in what the Official Charts Company usually consider to be a fairly quiet month in terms of sales.

This past week alone Clean Bandit have managed to achieve the biggest weekly sale for a Number (1) single in January since ‘Spaceman’ by Babylon Zoo which back in January 1996 sold 383,000 copies during it’s biggest week.

An interview with Clean Bandit can be seen above as they talk about their chart topping single after receiving the Official Singles Chart award.

‘Happy’ by Pharrell slips into Number (2) today while The Vamps are at Number (3) with their second Top 5 single ‘Wild Heart’ which is the follow-up to the hugely popular ‘Can We Dance’.

The Top 5 on the Official Singles Chart this week is completed by ‘Braveheart’ by Neon Jungle which is at Number (4) and ‘Timber’ by Pitbull and Ke$ha which is at Number (5).

Neon Jungle

Looking at new entries and high climbers according to information from the Official Charts Company we can see that in addition to Clean Bandit (1), The Vamps (3) and Neon Jungle (4) there are three other new tracks making their debut.

‘White Walls’ by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis which features rapper Schoolboy Q climbs 26 places into Number (27) and is the fourth single taken from their album ‘The Heist’.

OneRepublic move 33 places into Number (32) with ‘If I Lose Myself’ while Miley Cyrus climbs 15 places to Number (33) with her latest single ‘Adore You’.
