British band Coldplay are set to perform at the first-ever BBC Music Awards this coming Thursday, and they also have their own concert special on BBC Radio 2 coming up this week.
Speaking with Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, frontman Chris Martin confirmed the title of the band’s seventh studio album, but it seems it’s something which may have landed him in hot water.
Coldplay released their sixth studio album ‘Ghost Stories’ earlier this year. The album featured a number of tracks including ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’ and ‘Magic’ and topped the Official Top 40.
Chris Martin was speaking with Radio 1’s Zane Lowe after it was confirmed ‘Magic’ had been voted Radio 1’s Hottest Record of 2014.
The Coldplay frontman went on to reveal: “We haven’t told anyone this. We’re making an album called A Head Full of Dreams.
“We’re right in the middle of it and because it’s you (Zane Lowe) and Radio 1, this feels like, Ok I’ll tell you!”.
He went on to say that he didn’t have permission to reveal anything, adding: “But that’s what we’re doing…
“It’s our seventh thing and the way we look at it is like the last Harry Potter book or something. Not to say there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something.”
Martin explained that the group had enjoyed finishing ‘Ghost Stories’ and then going straight back into the studio and working on something completely different.
He added: “I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it. Then we will go on tour.”
Coldplay will perform an intimate show tonight at the BBC Radio Theatre for BBC Radio 2, which will also be broadcast online.
The band will also perform later in the week at the first-ever BBC Music Awards which will be broadcast on BBC One, BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and online.
