Comic Relief: Gary Barlow, Fearne Cotton, Ben Shepherd, Kimberley Walsh return to Africa

Gary Barlow, Fearne Cotton, Ben Shepherd and Kimberley Walsh have returned to Africa to see the net result of their fundraising efforts in conquering Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the British public, the Kilimanjaro climbers raised £3.5m in March this year as part of Red Nose Day 09. Malaria is the biggest killer of under 5s in Uganda and some of that money is being spent in Uganda on supplying anti-mosquito nets, education and medicines.

This week the distribution begins of half a million nets across four districts of Western Uganda. On Sunday Gary, Fearne, Ben and Kimberley visited the warehouse in Hoima, Uganda where 200,000 nets are being stored, and helped load them onto trucks in preparation for this week’s mass distribution. Today they will be joined by fellow Kilimanjaro climber, Chris Moyles, to assist with giving out the nets.
