Coming up on Coronation Street

On Monday’s first visit of the week at 7:30pm, it’s the day of Colin’s 70th birthday and Eileen’s planning his surprise party with Rita. Paula overhears the plans for the party from Rita but is horrified when she hears Pam gossiping about Jason and Julie ‘getting it on’ the night before. She confronts an embarrassed but perplexed Julie with a hurtful tirade of abuse, leaving her daughter bemused about what she’s done to deserve such fury.
Meanwhile, as the guests gather at the Rovers, Colin’s delighted with his surprise party and stuns Rita with a surprise of his own…
With Steve and Becky having reached an impasse over the situation with Amy, Steve braces himself to tell Tracy that Amy knows the truth about where she is. However, Becky’s still determined to put her side of the story and tries to explain to Steve about her childhood, her father’s imprisonment and the constant lies. As Steve starts to understand Becky’s background a bit more, the rift between them begins to heal.

Fiz visits John and apologises for the mix up over her last visit but John’s just delighted that she still wants to visit him and wastes no time in helping her with Chesney’s latest assignment. However, he can’t help feeling disappointed when the bell rings for the end of visiting and he realises he’s spent the whole time discussing Jekyll and Hyde and not his feelings for Fiz.
Elsewhere Ken checks up on Peter as he prepares to reopen the bookies following the fire.

At 8.30pm, a stunned but thrilled Rita accepts Colin’s marriage proposal to the delight of the party guests and the celebrations begin in earnest. Julie’s not best pleased that Jason appears to have been avoiding her all night, but as the conversation turns from her annoyance with him to her upset at her mum having a go at her, he can’t help but comfort her. When a drunken Paula arrives at the party, she spots Jason and Julie apparently getting cosy and outraged, she decides the time has come for everyone to know the truth about why Jason and Julie can’t be an item…
Fiz is excited to be getting stuck into Chesney’s Jekyll and Hyde project with him and he’s impressed by how much work she’s putting into his home schooling. When she fibs and tells him she’s been helped by someone connected to the school, he’s convinced that her newly acquired glow means that she has a crush on whoever it was who helped her…
Steve tells Lloyd that he’s come to an understanding with Tracy over what happened and he apologises to Becky for being so hard on her. Amy shows he’s right to give Becky another chance when she asks Becky if she’ll put her to bed.
Peter arrives at the Peacocks to collect Simon and he and Ashley are amused by Claire’s insistence on feeding the boys a diet fit for “a budding footballer”. When Peter arrives home and contemplates raiding the flat for booze, he’s pleased when Ashley arrives with kebabs as a welcome distraction.
Meanwhile, Ken’s feeling dismayed by the lack of interests he and Deirdre share and he can’t help comparing her to Martha.
On Wednesday, as the party descends into chaos, insults are hurled and questions asked as Eileen demands to know exactly what Paula’s trying to say. As Paula explains the truth behind Julie’s parentage, a horrified Rita slips out of the Rovers. Colin can’t look anyone in the eye and his lack of a denial is enough confirmation of the truth for Eileen. Julie meanwhile is struggling to come to terms with the news and Jason’s relieved when she confirms that nothing happened between them the previous evening. How will Paula’s devastating revelation affect the lives of Julie, Rita and the Grimshaws?
Faced with another night spent in front of the television with Blanche, Ken decides it’s time he and Deirdre did something different and suggests a weekend away. Deirdre’s enthusiastic but her plans to see Grease in the West End don’t quite match with Ken’s desire to do some brass rubbing at a church in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Disconsolate, Ken finds himself down at the canal… will he pluck up the courage to visit Martha?
Elsewhere when Amy reveals she’s being bullied by a boy at school, Becky’s determined to protect her.
On Friday at 7.30pm, a devastated Rita’s pleased when Norris turns up to help run things at the Kabin. He’s concerned when he finds her engagement ring in the till and puts off making plans with Mary to be at Rita’s side.
Meanwhile, Julie’s also coming to terms with everything she’s discovered over the last 48 hours; she’d spent years believing her father was a soldier who’d died a war hero and now she finally understands why Paula has resented her all her life.
Eileen’s also reeling from the shock of Paula’s revelation and struggling to cope with the fact that her childhood memories of her dad and her friendship with Paula have all been destroyed in an instant.
Blanche is frustrated when Ken refuses to gossip about the latest goings on in the street and with Martha on his mind, he snaps at Blanche that there IS life beyond Coronation Street. After telling Ted that he feels that all his life’s hopes and dreams are with Martha, he decides to pay her a visit but will she forgive him and accept him back into her life?

In the 8.30pm episode, Ken’s a man in love… Having persuaded Martha to give him another chance, he has little regard for Deirdre and as Martha reminds him that they should savour life till the end, he knows he has a big decision to make. Martha tells him that she’s leaving Manchester at 4pm and if he wants to be with her, then he should tell Deirdre and be on the barge by then. He returns home from his ‘walk’ to a full house and as he observes Peter, Simon, Deirdre and Michelle enjoying a game of hangman, he’s torn between duty and following his dream.
Paula pays Eileen a visit and is adamant that she will not take the blame for what happened. Eileen apologises for what she said in the Rovers and listens as Paula tells her how it all began. Its then Paula’s turn to listen as Eileen explains how the whole situation has reawakened raw childhood memories of her relationship with her mother. However, Eileen knows that she has to tackle this situation with her father and when he comes round to try and reconcile with her, she tells him how she really feels…

As he listens to Eileen, it soon becomes clear that Colin is not a well man and he collapses. Jason and Sean return to find paramedics wheeling Colin out on a stretcher and Eileen in a daze.
Finally this week, Becky and Amy’s relationship goes from strength to strength when Becky steps in to stop the bullying.
