Coming up on Coronation Street

In the first visit of the week on Monday at 7:30pm, David keeps vigil by Ted’s bedside, but only just manages to keep the smirk from his face as Joe discusses Gary’s potential sentence.
By the time Gary arrives home, he’s already sorted out his alibi, telling Anna that he was drinking with Len all night. Anna starts to relax a bit until she bumps into Joe who tells Anna and Eddie in no uncertain terms that he blames Gary for putting a defenceless elderly man in hospital.
Unbeknown to Gary, Ted recognised him and has already pointed the police in his direction, much to David’s delight. David can hardly contain his excitement when the police turn up at the Windass’ to arrest Gary, but Graeme’s worried that Gary might drag them both down with him.
Steve manages to persuade Betty to come back to the Rovers, but the bickering behind the bar continues as Poppy tries to assert her authority as Manageress.
After attending his AA meeting, Ken and Deirdre are relieved when Peter finally admits that he has a problem with alcohol, and is ready to make changes. Will he really go through with it?
Pam and Bill make an agreement to go out with the dates they both met at the singles night providing they go together but will there be any sparks?
At 8.30pm, Anna and Eddie are worried about Gary and, despite the police letting him go for the time being, Anna knows she has to talk to Ted and apologise for what happened. She’s relieved when Ted tells her that Gary didn’t attack him – he was merely trying to escape and bumped into him. This is some comfort to Anna but the fact remains that Gary was breaking into the house and is facing prison.
David meanwhile is enjoying the attention that Ted’s heart attack is bringing to him, especially when Tina seeks him out to chat about what happened. But Gary’s not going to take this lying down and makes it clear to David that when he gets out of prison, he’ll make him pay for setting him up.
Joe’s back is continuing to cause him problems and the situation isn’t helped by the fact that David hid his pills. But seeing how much pain Joe’s in, David puts the tablets back where he found them. Meanwhile Joe goes to the doctors for a repeat prescription but panics when the doc tells him this is the last prescription he’ll give him.
At the Rovers, Poppy continues to wind everyone up and with Betty still refusing to come into work, Becky and Steve know something has to be done about the situation. When Poppy oversteps the mark once more, Sean tells her that Steve’s going to sack her – but it it’s clear that Poppy doesn’t take rejection well.
Elsewhere, Pam and Bill have a disastrous double date with Vanessa and Gilbert leaving Bill wondering if they would’ve been better going on a date with each other – does Pam agree?
On Wednesday in a slightly earlier time slot of 7.15pm, Anna and Eddie sit down with Gary and demand the truth. He finally admits that he did break into Audrey’s but that he had no idea that it was her house and that David set him up. Stunned, Anna and Eddie insist that he go to the police and tell them what he’s just told them.
Meanwhile, David’s struggling getting hold of Audrey’s keys so that he can put all the pictures back up on the wall and panics when he discovers from Joe that Audrey and Gail are home early and on their way back from the airport. Desperate to cover his tracks, he hot foots it to Grasmere Drive but Audrey and Gail arrive at the same time. Will David have time to get the house back to normal before Audrey gets suspicious?

Maria panics when she starts to get contractions and the only person she can find to run her to hospital is Kirk. Seeing the state she’s in, Sally steps in and saves the day, but once at the hospital. It’s clear it’s a false alarm. The hospital agree to keep her in as a precaution but Maria’s starting to realise how difficult this is all going to be on her own.
Meanwhile, over at Underworld, Tony and Luke are feeling the pressure as both Kelly and Rosie get electric shocks from one of the machines. With finances stretched, Tony asks Luke if he has any bright ideas about where to find the money to get the machines serviced.

Fiz is upset when John returns her letter with a note attached asking her not to contact him again and Chesney’s hot helping the situation by continuing to give her the cold shoulder.
On Friday at 7.30pm, David’s rattled by Gary’s confession and he and Graeme wonder what it’ll mean for them. David’s cheered up when Tina pops in with a card for Ted and says she’ll meet him for a drink later. But Gary’s not going to let this drop and makes sure that Audrey hears his side of the story. Knowing David of old, Audrey’s immediately suspicious and heads for the Platt’s house where she demands that David tells them all the truth.
Luke’s all for giving the factory a refurb until Tony shows him their VAT projection and he realises just how bad things are. There’s little time for Tony to dwell on their financial problems however when he hears about Maria’s false alarm and trip to hospital. As she arrives home, he pays her a visit and tells her that he’s going to be on call round the clock until the baby’s born.
Fiz is upset when she gets a call from John’s probation officer telling her that John’s suffering from clinical depression. Deeply concerned about John and with no one to turn to, Fiz pours her heart out to a sympathetic Hayley.
Elsewhere, Pam and Bill enjoy each other’s company over lunch at the builder’s yard and Molly and Kevin arrange to go running together.

In the last of the week’s episodes on Friday at 8.30pm, David’s managing to convince everyone, including the police, that he had nothing to do with the burglary but Audrey’s not convinced and as the police leave, the family continue their interrogation of David.
As Tina arrives, the accusations really start to fly and eventually, David’s tongue trips him up and it becomes clear to them all that he guilty. As Gail and Audrey take in the news and try to decide what to do, David’s more concerned with speaking to Tina who’s stormed out of the house in disgust – has David finally overstepped the mark?

Worried about John’s state of mind, Fiz sets about trying to cheer him up and packages up some books and a card to send him. When Sally realises what she’s up to though, she secretly gets hold of the parcel and tampers with the books – tearing out the last pages. It’s too late for Fiz to do anything about it though as she doesn’t find the torn out pages until after she’s posted the parcel and, furious that this will tip John over edge, she launches herself at a smug Sally and the pair have to be pulled apart by Sean.
Maria quizzes Tony about his suggestion that he stay at the house and when she realises that he was serious, she gratefully takes him up on his offer.
Norris returns home from work and is furious to discover Emily and Rita entertaining Ramsey over tea and cake. He makes it very clear that’s not happy and an uncomfortable Ramsey makes his excuses and leaves.
Elsewhere Molly and Kevin go on their first training session and Kevin finds himself enjoying her company more than he expected…
