Coming up on Coronation Street

Monday night’s first episode kicks off a dramatic and compelling week’s viewing for Coronation Street fans as Carla returns to Weatherfield and time starts to run out for Tony Gordon…
It’s the day of baby Liam’s christening, and after a difficult start to the day, an uneasy truce is called between the Connors and Maria and Tony. Helen’s touched and grateful when Maria relents and dresses Liam in the family christening gown.
As the family settle down for lunch, Tony proposes a toast, but is interrupted by a phone call. Clearly unsettled by the call, Tony tells Maria and the Connors that he has to go to an emergency meeting but assures them he’ll be back in time for the christening. Leaving the house, Tony heads straight for the cemetery and Liam’s grave where Carla’s waiting for him!!
Elsewhere on the street, Luke’s also keeping secrets as he furtively packs a bag. An unsuspecting Rosie heads off to Underworld with him, full of ideas about the changes she’ll make now that she’s the majority shareholder. Luke strings her along whilst secretly deleting his computer files and planning his escape, but what exactly is he up to?
Pam’s been debt collecting for Bill but he’s less than impressed when she returns with a boat from one customer in lieu of payment. Joe however is quite taken with it.

At 8:30pm, a stunned Tony takes in Carla’s threatening demeanour at the graveside and it’s clear she’s here for a reason. She calmly tells Tony that he’s overstepped the mark setting up home with Maria and the baby and that he has to end it now, sell her his shares in Underworld and leave Weatherfield for good – or she’ll tell the police everything. Tony’s pleas that he loves Maria cut no ice with Carla and she makes it clear she means every word she’s said.
Meanwhile, back on the street, Maria and the Connors are enjoying their pre-christening lunch, oblivious to the drama unfolding at the cemetery.

Carla’s return has also had a knock on effect at Underworld as it starts to become clear to Rosie that Luke’s been less than honest with her. Realising he’s sold her shares that he no longer owns, she tries desperately to cancel the cheque – but it’s too late. Luke’s cleaned her out and disappeared without a trace!

Elsewhere Gail’s furious when Joe returns home with a boat, and Emily finds out Freda’s lost her job and her home.
On Thursday, Rosie’s crisis over Luke’s fraud proves the perfect cover for Tony as he struggles to come to terms with Carla’s ultimatum. Telling Maria he’s been caught up with Rosie’s problems, he arrives at the house in the nick of time, just as the christening party are preparing to leave.

As they arrive at the church, Tony gets a text and notices Carla sitting in a car nearby. Unnerved, he approaches and she tells him that if he goes through with being godfather, she’ll march into the church and spill the beans to the congregation. Tony begs her to wait until after the service for Maria’s sake and promises he’ll meet her afterwards to sign over his shares. But as she agrees and leaves, Tony makes a phone call – what is he planning?
Meanwhile, Sally and Kevin console a devastated Rosie as she comes to terms with the fact that she’s lost everything. Kevin tells her to go to the police but can’t help but wonder if it’s a blessing in disguise as Stape’s money has caused nothing but problems.

It’s Molly’s birthday and Tyrone’s arranged for Jack and Connie to join them at the Rovers. Molly’s thrilled to see them and delighted with her presents, until Tyrone surprises her with his gift!
On Friday at 7:30pm, having held up the christening, Tony finally arrives, but no sooner have proceedings started than his phone goes and he hot foots it out of the church once more.

This time however it isn’t Carla waiting for him but Jimmy, and Tony has the upper hand. Just as Carla had threatened him with the police, Tony tells an agitated Jimmy that the time has come for him to get rid of Carla once and for all, otherwise he’ll have no choice but to tell the police everything. Realising Tony’s not making idle threats, Jimmy agrees.

Back in the Church, Tony takes his place beside Maria and prepares to renounce evil – knowing all the while that he’s just signed Carla’s death warrant!
Elsewhere, Molly explains to Kevin that Tyrone’s gift of a home gym is going to make it very difficult for her to sneak off to the motel.
Norris is less than pleased with the noise Joe’s making working on his boat, but Gail sticks up for Joe, despite not being best impressed with the boat herself.
At 8:30pm, as Carla waits at the factory for Tony, she hears a noise and, unnerved, leaves and heads back to her flat. Taking a call from her, Tony realises his plans are unravelling and tells Jimmy to make his way to her flat. But, as the clock ticks, Tony starts to have second thoughts about having Carla killed and tries desperately to get hold of Jimmy and call off the hit.

Tension builds in this final episode of the week as Tony realises he has to try and get to Carla’s flat before Jimmy, but as Carla gets ready for bed, she’s confronted by the menacing figure of Jimmy and a struggle ensues.
Meanwhile, Tony’s told Maria that he needs a breath of fresh air and he races to the flat. Will he make it in time or will he have the blood of another murder victim on his hands?
