Coming up on EastEnders

Billy and Viv - Eastenders

On Monday, Billy accidentally bumps into a woman in the café and spills tea all over her before chatting to Phil about Jay. However, despite his best attempts, Jay wants nothing to do with Billy. Later, Shirley points out to Billy that the woman from the café who he’d spilled tea on is giving him ‘the eye’ and it’s not long before she introduces herself as Viv Bates… thug Terry’s wife.

Viv tells Billy that if he turns up in court to testify against her husband, or tells anyone about their conversation, Jay will be the one who suffers the consequences…

Meanwhile, Zainab’s thrown into a tizz when she realises that she’s catering an event for an old friend called Bushra. Not wanting to be seen by her old friend, she runs out, leaving Jane on her own. Masood later attempts to reason with his wife but Zainab’s adamant that she doesn’t want to be seen as a failure by her friend, especially after their last business failed. However, after a phone call from Jane, Masood agrees to go and help leaving Zainab at home, but she eventually returns to R&R, sees Bushra and is rather surprised by her reaction as she asks Zainab about Syed and whether he’s still single!

Dot and Syd - Eastenders

Elsewhere, a happy Jane wins a two-week holiday to Scotland in a charity raffle, Phil’s drinking seems to be under control and Syd has a crisis with her flat which results in her moving into Dot’s, which doesn’t please Nick one bit.

Minty and Billy - Eastenders

In Tuesday’s episode, it’s the day when the trial for Jase’s murder begins and Jay’s anxious about what’s to come. Dawn opens the front door to find Billy sitting on the doorstep waiting to speak to Jay, but she’s having none of it – not wanting Jay upset any more – and slams the door in his face. Later, having seen Jay head off to the court, Billy meets up with Minty who quizzes him about the mystery woman from the previous day, and Billy eventually confesses that she’s Terry Bates’s wife.

Later, Garry and Dawn return from court without Jay and reveal that he ran off after giving his evidence leaving Billy frantic as to Jay’s whereabouts. Meanwhile, Dawn asks Minty not to let Billy anywhere near Jay if she finds him.

Dawn and Phil - Eastenders

While Dawn’s in The Vic, some to-the-point words from Phil make her realise that she has to face up to her responsibilities to give evidence and have Terry sent down for what he did. Meanwhile, Billy’s frantically searching for Jay and reluctantly reveals to Minty that Terry’s wife threatened to harm Jay if he gave evidence. Their search continues and they soon find the flat door ajar… Billy tentatively steps inside to find Jay who’s been crying. After yelling at Billy, Jay storms off to his room.

Billy and Jay - Eastenders

When Jay hears Dawn’s voice, he returns downstairs, but he doesn’t like what he hears; it seems that Billy’s evidence will be essential in securing a conviction which leaves Jay frustrated and angry. Later, in the café, Billy tries to reason with him, but Jay’s adamant – he gave evidence, so why can’t Billy do the same by standing up and saying what he saw the night Jase died? As Jay storms out, Billy’s left alone and completely torn as to what to do.

Elsewhere, Ben’s sick of Phil’s moods, Syed bumps into a number of pretty girls while running some errands and Heather’s upset by the state Shirley’s in.

Also, Ian’s excited to hear that Jane’s managed to get them a free holiday but is then horrified to learn that Jane’s offered Shirley a job in the café. And finally, Jean expresses to Mo her concern that Ian’s asking for Stacey’s loan money back.

On Thursday, Billy’s supposed to appear in court to give evidence and at the court, Viv informs Terry that Billy’s name is still on the witness list. Enraged, Terry tells Viv to put their “plan into action”. Meanwhile, at Garry and Dawn’s, Jay gathers from their whispering that Billy’s contemplating not attending, completely unaware that he’s been threatened and is in danger if Billy gives evidence.

Minty then finds Billy in the café when he’s supposed to be in court, but Billy firmly tells Minty that he’s not going in order to protect Jay. At that moment, Dawn rushes in and puts a box on the table which contains a wreath and a card that reads “RIP Jay”. Looking up, Billy sees Viv standing in the doorway and he immediately panics about Jay’s whereabouts. Viv threateningly responds, “I think I can answer that one.”

Back at the flat, Jay’s watching coverage of Jase’s trial on TV as Garry bursts in followed by three members of Terry’s gang. Meanwhile, Viv marches Billy, Dawn and Minty off to the Arches and insists that Billy takes his name off the witness list.

Billy and Viv at the arches - Eastenders

As they’re talking, the door flies open and Garry tells everyone that Jay’s being held hostage at the flat. When Viv gets Jay on the phone to speak to Billy, the youngster says that he doesn’t care if he’s killed and he wants Billy to attend court and see that justice is done. Billy threatens Viv with the police, but she calmly replies that there’d be no reason to keep Jay alive if he did.

Hoping that Phil can help, Garry, Minty, Billy, and Dawn prepare to ‘storm’ the flat but it’s soon obvious that Phil’s too drunk to do anything. As they walk away, Billy’s still standing outside the flat, and, resolute on rescuing Jay, he dials 999 before taking a deep breath and going into the flat.

ronnie and roxy - Eastenders

Elsewhere, Ronnie gives Roxy a present while Jack finds a pink baby-grow in the drawer at the flat. Ronnie tells Jack that she wants to have a baby with him which is news he doesn’t take well.

Also, Syed’s frustrated that his mother’s interfering in his love life while Masood believes that Syed’s up to his old tricks. However, Syed swears that he’s only trying to impress Amira’s father with a business plan.

bradley and Syd - Eastenders

Finally, a worried Dotty tells Nick that Syd’s a nurse but he’s adamant that that fact could help their scheme, so Dotty tells Syd that Dot’s starting to forget things. As Dot was supposed to look after Noah, Dotty suggests that it would put the child in danger leaving him there, prompting Syd to suggest to Bradley that Dot may have dementia.

On Friday, Billy slowly opens the door to Garry and Dawn’s flat and creeps through to the living room where he sees Jay on the floor with his hands tied behind his back. They make eye contact and Billy conveys to Jay that he must stay quiet, but before he knows what’s happening, Bird – one of Terry’s gang – punches him in the face.

At the court, Terry’s escorted in and spots Viv who gives him a knowing nod. Smiling to himself, Terry believes that everything’s in hand…

Dawn, Garry, Minty - Eastenders

Back on the Square, Dawn races to the flat with Garry and Minty in tow and they see a police car and ambulance come speeding round the corner. Inside, Billy’s on the floor with a bloodied face and just as Bird’s about to start attacking him again, the police storm the flat.

Billy - Eastenders

Later, a limping Billy comes out of the house but instead of getting into the ambulance, he’s driven off in a police car.

Meanwhile, Jack’s still reeling from Ronnie’s revelation that she wants a baby. Upset by his reaction, Ronnie gathers her stockpile of baby clothes while Jack insists that it’s not the case that he never wants a child with her, just not as things stand at the moment.

Jack and Ronnie - Eastenders

The arrival of Jack’s friends for a poker night interrupts them, but he takes them to the Vic instead. When he returns, he finds a trail of poker chips leading to the bedroom but Ronnie’s shocked when she starts kissing him and he yells that he’s not going to give her a baby. He adds that it’s too soon after Danielle’s death and that she has years left to have another child.

Dot, Bradley and Syd - Eastenders

Elsewhere, Bradley’s unconvinced by Syd’s claims that Dot could have dementia, until he hears that Dot’s locked herself out of the house. Also, Ian decides to turn the trip to Scotland into a cycling holiday and as a result, he buys a tandem bike!

Finally, Mo reluctantly sells Chops to Chinese Pedro in order to pay off Stacey’s debt to Ian.
