Coming up on EastEnders

On Monday, Dawn’s boxing everything up in the flat ahead of the wedding and in preparation for their move, so she suggests that Garry spend the day with Minty ahead of the stag do. When they’ve gone, Dawn hugs her wedding dress as she stares at a photo of her and Jase from last year.
Later, as Dawn makes her way through the Square, she bumps into Phil who gives her short shrift. Minty, meanwhile, watches them both, but they aren’t aware of him. Dawn arrives at Shirley and Heather’s flat for her hen party, while at the Vic, Minty turns up at the stag do, and there’s an evident animosity between him and Phil. It’s not long though before a blonde woman turns up at the Vic and it quickly becomes apparent that she’s a stripper.

At the hen party, the girls try to coax any regrets from Dawn who eventually caves, admitting that she’s slept with another man while with Garry. Provoked to reveal his identity, Shirley’s face falls when Dawn admits that it was Phil. Dawn goes on to explain how and why she fell for Phil, but Shirley’s not impressed in the slightest and makes some untoward comments about Jase.
At the stag do, Minty pays the stripper to show Garry “a good time”, but Phil’s not impressed. Minty points out though that when the truth finally surfaces, Garry will still have some dignity in tact. Garry bolts down the stairs covered in lipstick and furious with Minty for setting him up. At that moment, Darren shows them sumo suits.
Outside, Minty and Garry take each other on in the sumo suits and Minty ends up restraining his friend in a headlock. Phil breaks them up and when Garry asks Minty why he can’t be happy for him and Dawn, Minty strides away. At the hen party, a guilty Dawn decides that she’s going to confess to Garry about what happened with Phil. She returns to the flat to find Garry playing with Summer, but she can’t bring herself to break his heart. With Dawn gone, Minty returns to the flat and finds Garry alone, announcing, “It’s about Dawn. There’s something you need to know.”
Elsewhere, Manda leaves an urgent message for someone while Shirley’s intervention with Manda’s landlord means that she has to be out of the house by Friday.
Masood reveals that he and Zainab are going on a round-the-world trip when Tamwar leaves for Oxford. Distracted,
Tamwar gets the wrong end of the stick and makes a pass at Amira, before admitting that he didn’t get the grades for Oxford;
Also, Dawn suggests that Manda move in with Minty at the flat since she and Garry are leaving following their wedding, and Bradley reveals that Gumbo’s owner has been in touch and he wants the dog back.
On Tuesday, Garry lies awake on the sofa at the flat and it’s obvious that Minty’s told him about Dawn’s affair with Phil. Dawn, meanwhile, is in Shirley and Heather’s flat. Shirley’s mood lifts when Dawn points out that despite what happened with Phil, she doesn’t think that he ever loved her. With that, Shirley tells Heather and Dawn to get ready for the day ahead.
Garry meanwhile still seems happy to go ahead with the wedding, despite Minty’s revelation. After a chat with Mo in the café, Garry finds Jay in the Square and the youth informs him that he’s not going to the wedding. Garry, Minty, Billy and Darren leave the flat to go to the register office when Phil approaches and holds his hand out as if to shake Garry’s. The groom stops and thinks for a moment, before shaking Phil’s hand and thanking him for providing the transport.
Dawn and the girls leave the flat and head out onto the Square. As the bride’s straightening Manda’s button hole, Jay appears and asks if Dawn has a spare buttonhole flower. As Phil’s driving the boys out of the Square, Garry shouts at Phil to stop the car and he gets out. Dawn tries to hide behind Manda so Garry doesn’t see her, but when he shouts “do you love me?” she stares directly at him in silence. When Dawn glances over to Phil, Garry turns round and punches Phil…
Meanwhile, Bradley’s reluctant to let Gumbo’s real owner, Don, take him back. When Don calls at the house, Bradley sneaks out the back door to the Slaters’ to hide him. Mo flatly refuses to watch the giant canine, leaving Jean on her own to watch him. Syd lets Don inside just as Bradley returns claiming that Gumbo’s escaped. At that moment, there’s a scene at the Slaters’ front door and a flustered Jean emerges with Gumbo. As Don’s about to take Gumbo, Syd suggests that Gumbo should decide who he wants to be with…
Elsewhere, a troubled Zainab’s concerned about the business as Masood discusses their round-the-world trip.
Masood hands a large parcel to Zainab, prompting her to invite the family round. With everyone gathered, Zainab presents her son with a mortar board. As Tamwar’s about to admit the truth about his grades, Amira steps in and reveals all. Masood’s furious that Tamwar lied, while Zainab’s uncharacteristically calm. Not wanting the revelation to interfere with their travel plans, Masood announces that their first stop is Egypt. Zainab’s less excitable, but Masood’s determined that they’re going.
On Thursday, the fight between Garry and Phil continues in the Square and a devastated Garry shouts at Dawn and Phil, incredulous at their betrayal. With the truth out, Garry heads home, leaving Dawn in tears. Shirley, meanwhile, tends to Phil’s wounds with a bag of peas and as she does, Phil leans in for a kiss. Shirley, however, backs off, telling him that he had his chance.
At the flat, Heather tries to comfort an emotional Garry. Despite what’s happened, Minty’s shocked that Gary still intends to leave. He walks Garry to the station where Garry reminds his best friend that it’s not too late for him to go with him. Minty and Garry say an emotional goodbye as Garry heads off alone.
Following a chat with Jay, Dawn returns to Shirley and Heather’s flat and Shirley points out that she’s never seen Garry as determined as he was while sparring with Phil and questions whether Dawn’s prepared to let him go so easily. At that moment, Heather enters and reveals that Garry’s gone. Rushing through the Square, Dawn goes to the flat and is confronted by Minty. After cross words, Minty relents and tells Dawn where Garry is.
She hurries into the Car Lot and asks Darren for a car. Grabbing a set of keys, Darren offers to drive them. They pull up beside a canal and just as Garry’s sailing away, Dawn rushes to the waterside and shouts to Garry that she can’t imagine her life without him, before iterating that no man has ever compared to him. When Dawn admits that she loves him, Garry throws the rope to the shore to allow Dawn and Summer to board, before the three of them sail off into the sunset…
Meanwhile, Amira apologises to Zainab for blurting out Tamwar’s secret like she did. To Amira’s shock, Zainab thanks her. After settling on the gap-year lie that she’ll tell Denise, the Masoods head to mosque for Zuhr. At mosque, Zainab tries to cover the truth that Tamwar’s no longer going to Oxford, but she has a hot flush. While in prayer, Zainab looks like she’s about to faint, so Amira and Bushra try to take her home. Zainab, however, won’t leave until she’s seen the imam and swears Amira to secrecy. Masood and Syed are puzzled to hear that Zainab and Amira have already returned home as Zainab wasn’t feeling too well.
At the house, Zainab finally confesses her secret to Amira. When Masood, Syed and Tamwar return, Amira ensures that Zainab and Masood are alone. Still confused as to what’s going on, Masood asks for an explanation, prompting Zainab to admit that she’s pregnant.
Elsewhere, Syd, Mo, Bradley, Jean and Noah meet with Don to decide who gets to look after Gumbo. Bradley urges
Sugar to ‘fight for her man’ and with that, Sugar barks at Gumbo, which encourages him to walk over to them. Bradley’s happy to have won Gumbo around, but Syd insists that Gumbo was going to choose Don anyway. Realising what he’s done, Bradley hands Gumbo back to Don. Back at the flat, Syd’s shocked to open a letter offering her a job in Canada.
On Friday, as Masood pulls a holiday brochure out, a weary Zainab wanders down the stairs and reminds her husband that she’s pregnant and that they’re going to have to sell the business. Zainab receives a call from the surgery confirming an appointment for midday and Masood agrees to attend. At the Masala Queen unit, Zainab and Jane argue over the suppliers, prompting Masood to point out that they need to sort the business out – and quickly.
While Masood discusses being a parent with Syed, Zainab’s waiting at the surgery for him, but the doctor’s unable to wait any longer. Syed and Masood are talking business and when Syed mentions Zainab, Masood bolts out of the house, having just remembered the appointment.
Outside, Masood catches Zainab as she’s leaving the surgery and she snaps that she’s 15 weeks pregnant. At the unit, Zainab breaks down while talking to Jane and she confesses that she’s pregnant. Concerned, Jane asks how she feels and suggests that she and Masood could still go on their holiday. Zainab, however, points out that they’d planned to start a new life. At the swings, Syed joins his father and they talk about the past. On his way back home, Masood stops by the Car Lot and asks Darren if he has any jobs going and the budding entrepreneur says that he’ll ask Archie.
Back at the house, Zainab and Masood have a heart-to-heart. Masood admits that he was getting carried away with their travel plans and, touching her stomach, says that he’s looking to do some extra work at the Car Lot. Zainab’s dismissive though, and angrily yells, “I don’t want this baby. Sorry.”
Meanwhile, Minty’s surprised to find Manda on his doorstep with her belongings. The flat soon begins to fill up with
Manda’s things and she starts to tidy the rooms up a little, removing one of Garry’s pictures in the process. Minty’s further frustrated as he’s trying to watch a car programme when Manda turns it off in favour of a black and white film, prompting Minty to ‘go to the toilet’. Instead, he goes to the Vic. After a chat with Mo, Minty returns home to find Manda about to leave. He eventually convinces her to stay but isn’t prepared for Manda’s bombshell that she hoped her son Adam could move in with them.
Elsewhere, Noah’s concerned about moving away and when Bradley returns with ice cream, he finds that Noah’s disappeared. Bradley eventually finds Noah in the arcades and Noah asks Bradley if he’ll move to Canada with them if they go. Noah finally returns home, hugs his mother and apologises for running away.
