Coming up on EastEnders

On Monday, Heather and Shirley are struggling for cash and as Heather sorts through some bits in the house, Shirley says that she’ll have the rent money soon, before storming out.
It’s Heather’s last day at the Minute Mart and she tells Pat that she suspects Patrick has a surprise for her, but Pat dismisses the idea. It’s not long before Patrick tells Heather that she can leave early after handing her a maternity booklet. Heather’s eyes light up when Patrick follows her out, but she’s disappointed when he asks for her overalls.
Jean, Minty and Billy aren’t bothered about Heather’s maternity leave either, and even Shirley tells her to go home and “get on with it”.

Walking back into the flat, Heather’s delighted to find Peggy, Pat and Patrick there for her a surprise baby shower. She’s made up when she receives cash and baby hand-me-downs. Shirley turns up and Heather expresses her worry over money to Shirley again, but Shirley insists that she’s “working on it”.
While a prying Peggy tries to discover the identity of Heather’s baby’s daddy, Patrick proposes a toast and then goes on to reflect on his life as a father. Heather assures him that she’d be proud to have him as a father, before hugging him. At that moment, Heather’s waters break…

Meanwhile, Sam’s spying on Jack’s house, but she’s rumbled when Jack spots her watching. Confronting Sam, she insists that she’d planned to let him down gently, and as they talk, Archie watches their exchange from a distance. Shouting to Janine, Archie points out that Sam’s settling into life on the Square, but Janine reassures him – nothing will get in their way.

Riled by Archie’s insinuation that Janine’s not serious about their plan, Janine decides on a new plan of action; she’ll take Sam out for the day so she skips bail. Finding Sam bonding with Liam, Janine suggests a day out but at a bridal event but Sam says that she’s looking after Liam. Touched by Sam’s affection towards Liam, Janine suggests that they can go another time, before telling Archie that she can’t go through with setting up Sam. Archie, however, appears to have his own plan…
While Sam’s on her way to the Arches, Jack invites her out but she’s quick to remind him that she’s engaged and that what happened between them the other night shouldn’t have happened.

Elsewhere, Peggy’s disgusted by Sam’s outfit but, unconcerned, Sam bonds with Liam to prove to Peggy and Phil that she can face up to responsibilities. Meanwhile, Jack threatens Phil when Phil says that he’s not welcome in the Vic, and Shirley attempts to attract custom at the ice cream van, much to Phil’s amusement.
Also, Libby and Owen talk in the café while Billy asks Darren about a job at the Car Lot. However, Darren tells him there’s nothing going and even worse, Billy and Jay are forced to find somewhere else to live.
Later, Libby’s stunned when Darren reveals that he wanted to see Owen to ask his permission to marry her.
Finally, Shirley makes a mystery phone call and hides a bag of white powder in one of the ice cream van’s drawers, and when a schoolboy tries to steal flowers from Jean’s stall, Billy jumps into action.

On Tuesday, Patrick and Peggy attempt to keep a panic-stricken Heather calm while Pat goes to find transport. Seeing the ice cream van, she hotwires it and drives them all to hospital. While Peggy and Pat argue about their families and who should go into the room with Heather, Patrick wheels Heather inside. Realising what’s about to happen, Patrick’s uncomfortable and tries to leave, but Heather begs him to stay with her.

As the pain becomes too much, Heather begins reciting the Wham back catalogue and Patrick starts singing ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’. Heather finally gives birth to a healthy baby boy, despite believing that she was having a girl. Shirley rushes in and is upset to have missed the birth. Heather asks Patrick to be godfather, before naming her son George Michael Trott.

Meanwhile, Shirley checks on the ‘goods’ in the ice cream van and appears to regret what she’s become involved with. Trying to find a way out, she goes to Phil and asks him for a loan. Again, he declines and at that moment, Shirley hears the ice cream van jingle and rushes outside to see it being driven off – by Pat! With that, she confesses to Phil about the drugs, her involvement with Jack and that she stole Heather’s money to buy the stash. Phil storms across the Square to Jack’s house and punches him in the face. At the Vic, Phil demands an explanation from Shirley and suggests that she put the situation right.

Phil receives a call from an inebriated Peggy, and when he asks to speak with Pat, he’s unimpressed to hear that she’s equally as drunk. They admit that they’re in the ice cream van, prompting Phil and Shirley to head out to find them. With Phil and Shirley on their way, Peggy discovers the white powder and tosses it to one side, presuming that it’s sherbet.
Phil turns up to find Peggy and Pat declaring their love for each other and bundles them into his car. Shirley locates the drugs, quickly pockets them and rushes into the hospital to see Heather and baby George. Inside, Shirley’s delighted to meet baby George and lies to Heather that she’s sorted the rent money.

Elsewhere, Libby storms out of the restaurant, followed by Darren and Owen. Libby insists to Owen that she’s not ready to be tied down with marriage but later, when Darren proposes again in the café, Libby accepts. Adam sarcastically congratulates Darren and Libby on their engagement as the couple head to the Vic to celebrate.
Also, Jay sets up a date between Billy and Jean who meet up at the Vic and engage in a nervous conversation as ‘Billie Jean’ plays on the jukebox. However, both Billy and Jean soon realise that they’ve been set up.
Finally, Patrick announces Heather’s happy news to the pub.

On Thursday Heather stares at baby George with concern, and after a conversation with her mother Queenie, an upset Heather tells Shirley exactly what’s been said. Shirley however fishes for information about the baby’s daddy, but Heather won’t be moved on the subject, prompting a frustrated Shirley to head for the door. Heather, however, calls her friend back…
During an emotional conversation, Heather reminisces about her own father and with that, Shirley insists that the father doesn’t matter. Heather’s about to reveal the dad’s identity when Patrick walks in with Dr Al. Later, Heather goes through her phone and leaves a voice message, informing the mystery recipient that they have a son.
Meanwhile, a stressed Shirley vents to Phil about needing money to pay the rent. Phil reluctantly agrees to help and takes the drugs. Heading to Jack’s house, Phil demands that Jack take back the drugs and pay Shirley her money back with interest. Jack flatly refuses and with that, Phil threatens to call the police as the bag of drugs now has his fingerprints on it. Realising that he has no choice but to hand over the cash, Jack goes to R&R and retrieves a wad of cash from the safe in exchange for the drugs. Later, Phil’s phone rings…

A hung-over Peggy is harangued by Billy as he attempts to sweet-talk her round in the hope he can stay at the Vic. Peggy, however, is adamant that there’s still no room. Despite Billy pretending otherwise, Jay drops Billy in it when he reveals that he was about to suggest a loft conversion. Peggy declines, insisting that they have no money. Later, Billy’s phone rings…
Elsewhere, Tamwar celebrates his birthday at the Vic – much to Zainab’s disappointment – and Libby gives Tamwar a gift as a heavy metal band plays.
Darren then hands Libby an engagement ring but Libby’s worried about Denise returning to the Square and discovering Owen’s in Walford. And, just as Libby’s making an official announcement, Denise returns.

And finally, after an argument with Manda, Minty’s phone rings while Patrick tells Ronnie how much he likes Heather. Later, Ronnie bumps into Owen and they start talking in the pub.

On Friday, having left the baby’s father a voice message, Heather’s uneasy when the door opens. She’s initially startled but finds that it’s only Shirley who reassures her that everything will be fine. Heather, however, says that she wants to start a new life away from Walford with baby George, while preoccupied by the thought of George’s father walking through the door. Shirley accuses her of simply running away from her problems but Heather claims that she can’t go back to the Square for fear that George’s father will ignore them. Heather goes on to reveal that she’s already called the dad to let him know he has a son.
Phil receives a phone call, while elsewhere, Minty stares at his phone in disbelief and rushes out of the house, leaving Manda alone without telling her where he’s going. He anxiously paces up and down in the corridor. Billy also receives a call on his phone and tells Jay to view the George Street flat on his own. With that, Billy grabs a bike and cycles to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Denise is enraged about the secret engagement and as Owen tries to sneak out unnoticed, Denise turns and stares in disbelief. Denise congratulates Libby on her “happy news” before walking out. Libby rushes after her mother and as Darren tries to stop her, he receives a phone call…
As Heather reads baby George a story at the hospital, the room door swings open and Heather looks up in disbelief. She stares proudly at George and introduces him to his daddy for the first time…
Elsewhere, Denise is livid over Owen’s return and she threatens to call the police, but Libby snatches the phone from her.

Also, Tamwar tries to chat up a woman in the Vic but whines that he’s “terminally single.” However, because Lucy’s spiked Tamwar’s drink with vodka, an inebriated Tamwar has the dutch courage to kiss Amira on the cheek, and receives a slap in return. As Syed takes a drunk Tamwar home, he finds a ‘Bad Boy’ note with a picture of him and Christian kissing.
