Coming up on EastEnders

On Monday, as Denise takes out her frustrations on her exercise bike, Patrick reassures Lucas that his way of reassuring Denise that he loves her is the right thing to do. Lucas, meanwhile, has set up a soup kitchen outside the chippy and Ian’s livid, especially when Lucas shows him he has the legal permit to run it.
While Ian claims that the local homeless people are bound steal from the market stalls, Denise turns up and asks what needs to be done so at least Lucas knows he has an ally in her. As the pair discuss going to the cinema later that night, Lucas spots a face he recognizes; it’s his wife, Trina…
Seeing Trina approaching the soup van, Lucas quickly ushers Denise away. Once she’s out of the way, Lucas attempts to find out why Trina’s in Walford and he’s not happy when she reveals that she wants to give their relationship another go.

As Denise moves closer to the soup van, Trina and Lucas are inside with the hatch closed but as the door opens, Patrick’s stunned to learn Trina’s identity. After a discussion with Trina in the café, Patrick’s forced to confront Lucas and tells him he knows where he was on Christmas Day…
Meanwhile, Zainab tells Denise about her current business and relationship successes, which touches a raw nerve with her friend. However, as Zainab tries to pay for her shopping, she’s shocked when her card’s rejected. Confused, she marches over to the café and accuses Ian of withdrawing money from the business account.
When Ian reveals that his new card has only just arrived, Zainab’s mystified. With confirmation from the bank that the money was taken using Zainab’s card, she accuses Masood of trying to ruin the family business again. As they argue, however, Tamwar’s on the phone in the Square and tells the caller that he has the money…

Elsewhere, Ricky and Bianca deal with the aftermath of Whitney’s theft spree, but Ricky thinks that she needs to see a counselor. Meanwhile, Danielle returns to the Square after having been home to see her father in Telford and she’s happy to learn she has her job back at The Vic.
On Tuesday, following Trina’s appearance yesterday, Patrick again confronts Lucas about keeping his ex’s presence in the Square a secret. Patrick’s adamant that Lucas should talk to Denise about his past, but Lucas is equally determined that he’ll tell her in his own time. However, Patrick then tells him that he won’t let him marry Denise until she knows the full story.
Meanwhile, over at Booty, Theo arrives to see Chelsea. He reveals that he’s a researcher and wants to talk to Patrick about the Notting Hill riots. As they’re looking through old press cuttings, Theo’s phone rings and he takes the call outside, where he informs the person on the other end that he’s working on Chelsea.
When Chelsea returns home, she tells Lucas that she doesn’t think Theo’s telling the whole truth about why he’s in Walford, and pulls a newspaper clipping from her bag which features news of a young Patrick having been convicted of assault years ago, so as the Trueman’s eat their pancakes, Lucas quizzes Patrick on the Notting Hill riots.

It’s not long before Patrick’s reminiscing about the time when a racist barman lost his licence after a ‘joint’ was placed in his pocket. When Patrick talks about standing up to ignorance, Lucas interjects and asks if Patrick was involved.
When Chelsea arrives at The Vic to meet her Booty workmate Gaynor, Theo’s there and asks for his press cutting back. Although denying it at first, she admits that she’s passed the clipping to Lucas.
Worried that Theo will start blackmailing Patrick, Theo attempts to dispel her fears and insists that she’s wrong about Patrick. He asks her if she wants to see Patrick get hurt – which of course she doesn’t – and so Theo asks for Chelsea’s help, but she doesn’t know which way to turn for the best.

Later, before Lucas leaves the house to pick Jordan up, Patrick insists that he must tell Denise about Trina when he returns. However, in the hope of keeping him quiet, Lucas shows a stunned Patrick the newspaper clipping with the headline ‘Negro charged with assault’. Pocketing the article, Lucas leaves the house and an extremely shaken Patrick…
In Thursday’s episode, having just spoken to Ian on the phone, Zainab reveals to Masood that Ian wants to audit the business accounts. Worried as to where the missing money has gone, Masood is unimpressed that his wife doesn’t trust him and is essentially accusing him of withdrawing the cash.
As they’re arguing, Tamwar listens into their row at the kitchen door. He also hears them argue about the money they ‘lost’ from their previous business years ago. Furious that Zainab is dragging up the past, Masood storms out. A guilt-ridden Tamwar then confesses to Libby that his parents have been arguing, before revealing that he can put the situation right.

Later, Zainab tells a baffled Masood that the misplaced money has been returned to the account. As Masood protests his innocence, Tamwar walks in and confesses that he was the one who took it to give to his estranged brother, Syed. He shows them the emails from Syed asking to borrow the money for a couple of weeks. Masood, however, is unyielding; they’re not helping Syed. Zainab, meanwhile, is unhappy that her son didn’t call her to ask for the money.
When Zainab then accuses Masood of being the reason that Syed left in the first place, Masood makes a shock confession; he’d discovered Syed stealing money from the company all those years ago. Zainab then feels guilty as she always thought it was Masood who’d been taking money from the company’s accounts. Seemingly pleased that the secret is finally out, Masood reveals to Zainab that he lied to protect her. Later, despite having promised not to contact her son, Zainab finds the emails and leaves a message on Syed’s voicemail.
Elsewhere, Billy walks in on Ian showing Christian his bum – complete with new devil tattoo! Chelsea still has the article about Patrick and Pat returns to find her business has been relocated to her front room, prompting a row with Janine. Pat also confesses to Ricky that she plans to retire.
Finally, Jane goes to a pole dancing class and Mo’s ordered pork for dinner but is shocked when she finds a pig in the kitchen!
On Friday, Jane’s woken from her drunken slumber by Ian’s voice and quickly realises what day it is; his 40th birthday. Disappointed that the kids have already left for school, Jane heads out of the house, leaving Ian alone with a small wrapped gift box on the table. At that moment, Ian realises what happened the previous night and peels back his pyjama bottoms to reveal his new devil tattoo. Then, while he’s listening to his new CD, Ian spots a bag behind the settee and is shocked when he finds a ‘Sexy Pole’ in it! Grinning to himself, he puts it back where he found it…

Out on the market, Jane’s frantically searching for a present for Ian when Christian bumps into her. When he mentions Ian’s “tramp stamp” tattoo to her, he rapidly realises that Jane knows nothing about it. In the café, Ian unwraps Jane’s present and is thrilled with his new leather jacket.

An overjoyed Ian then whispers to Jane that he’s found her ‘pole’ and a rather embarrassed Jane confesses that she’s no expert but she’ll do a pole dance for him back at home.

Later, as his party gets underway, Billy mentions to Garry that he saw Ian in a ‘compromising position’ with Christian earlier in the week and it’s not long before the whole pub knows about Ian’s devilish side. When Jane admits that she may have told Tanya about the tattoo, Ian’s livid and forbids his wife from seeing her friend. Later, as Ian attempts to make his birthday speech, the locals break out into a chant of “Tattoo! Tattoo!” so Ian’s then forced to drop his trousers and show everyone his devil.

Elsewhere, Peggy’s furious when Janine makes a beeline for the deputy mayor at Ian’s party and decides to tell everyone in the pub that she used to be a prostitute.
Chelsea’s reveling in Theo’s attention while Patrick and Lucas continue their tug-of-war over Trina and the news clipping, and finally, Tamwar gives Syed a call.
