On Monday, Denise is worried about seeing Lucas again so she asks Chelsea and Libby to go out so she can make the day special. However, Chelsea’s worried that her mum will mess things up with Lucas like she’s done before, while Libby just wants Denise to be happy. Denise loses her temper with Chelsea over it so while Chelsea’s at the Minute Mart, she asks Patrick to have a word with Denise instead…

After a few words of wisdom from Patrick, Lucas arrives at the Trueman’s and makes a last-ditch attempt to get Denise to marry him. As the girls wait in anticipation of their mum’s answer, she tells them that it’s a no because God doesn’t want them “living in sin” and she adds that Lucas has a new job in Leeds.

Later, Denise accuses Lucas of spending more time talking to God than his own family. Lucas’s religion is starting to get on Denise’s nerves and it’s at this point that Lucas realises he and Denise live totally different lifestyles.

Elsewhere, Jean celebrates her birthday but she’s not feeling well causing childhood memories to come flooding back to Stacey. It gets worse when Jean makes a shocking confession and Lucas doesn’t help when he tries to “reach out” to them. Her upset at a peak, Stacey asks Danielle to leave the Slater’s.

On Tuesday, Billy opens the front door of the flat to a courier who hands him a notice to quit. While suggesting that Janine gets a job, he worries about Jay being late for school but is left wondering where Jay is when it’s Janine who emerges from the bathroom.

As Billy leaves Jay a voicemail, Janine calls the landlord of the flat they’re in and claims that she’s representing clients who are currently living at 43a Albert Square. Janine later hears from Peggy that she’s seen Jay on George Street, prompting Janine to tell Billy who rushes down the road to find him. Jay’s outside Walford’s new massage parlour, called ‘Gilly’s’.

Jay tries to chat up Marissa, the teenage girl who’s standing outside Gilly’s and flashes a wad of notes at her but Peggy shortly arrives and starts shouting at her. As Jay runs off, Peggy tells Marissa that she disapproves of the massage parlour. Hiding near the car he’s stolen, Jay notes down the massage parlour’s number. Billy’s unable to find Jay, but when he finally tracks down his car, Jay speeds off before Billy gets to him.

Meanwhile, Lucas bumps into Zainab as he’s taking Jordan to school. She’s desperate to hear how things are going between him and Denise but Lucas is desperate to get away from her. He then calls in to the Trueman’s to say goodbye to Denise, but she’s not there.

Chelsea seizes the opportunity to ask him to stay but his mind’s made up so they both say an emotional farewell. When Denise returns, she hears that Lucas dropped by before Chelsea accuses her of driving him away.

Later, Zainab hears that Denise turned down Lucas’s marriage proposal and decides to take matter into her own hands. She confronts Denise over her decision to let the man she loves walk out of her life. Realising her mistake, she heads to the tube station, catching Lucas just as he’s about to leave, and she proposes.

Elsewhere, an inquisitive Dotty asks Dot about the massage parlour which Peggy’s determined to get closed down. Ian finds Danielle squatting in one of his flats while Ronnie moves in to her new place.

On Thursday, Denise is keen on a Valentine’s Day wedding but as she makes arrangements, Lucas tries to reassure Jordan about their future as a family. Secretly though, Lucas thinks it’s too soon to be tying the knot. Chelsea meanwhile feels like she’s out of the loop.

Confronting her father over his abandonment of her, Lucas reveals that he tracked Denise down when she was pregnant but couldn’t bring himself to get back with her as she had a new man at the time. Lucas promises that he’ll be there for her from now on.

When Jordan asks his dad for a word, Denise, Libby and Chelsea are left wondering what they could be talking about. When Denise asks Jordan what he’s worried about, Jordan makes a shocking revelation; Lucas is still married to Jordan’s mum!

Meanwhile, Danielle’s sleeping rough now she’s homeless. After persuading Ronnie to give her Paul’s number, Danielle arranges to meet him in the café. He notices that she’s looking a little worse for wear, but she doesn’t say anything about having no roof over her head. Danielle feels slightly better about herself when he invites her back to his place, but soon feels worthless when he mentions his girlfriend.

Nearly in tears, Danielle rushes out of the café and Ronnie finds her in a tearful state. Ronnie’s then shocked when she discovers that Danielle’s pregnant.

Elsewhere, Billy’s angry about Jay’s joyriding but Jay’s not bothered as he spends more time with Marissa and Peggy ups her campaign against the massage parlour. Jean’s convinced that Charlie and Mo want her out of the house so Stacey decides to call Jean’s care worker for help.

In Friday’s show, a confused Jean tells Stacey that she’s having trouble sleeping and worries that Stacey will send her to a mental health unit. After talking with her mum for a while, Stacey decides that she probably doesn’t need the extra help any more, so she tells Mo that she’s going to cancel the request she made yesterday for Jean’s care assistant to make more regular visits.

Mo, however, is furious and claims that Charlie can’t cope with Jean any longer. With the care assistant sitting in the kitchen, Stacey tries to pretend everything’s OK with Jean but Mo’s not helping in the slightest.

While the Slaters and Jean’s care assistant discuss her fate, they don’t realise Jean’s listening in the kitchen. Jean then disappears as the care assistant agrees that Stacey can probably look after her mum on her own, but only on the proviso that she calls for help if she needs it.

Later, Stacey’s thrown into a state of panic when she realises that Jean’s missing. Stacey, Charlie and Mo search for Jean who they find in the middle of the road in her dressing gown, with car horns beeping all around her. Stacey finds Jean just in time and takes her home. Stacey and Danielle momentarily see each other and they quickly patch things up, with Stacey offering Danielle her room back at the Slaters.

When they arrive back at the house, Jean locks herself inside, forcing Mo to pick the lock. Inside, Jean sits at the kitchen table with her meds and a knife. The family force entry into the house and Jean admits that she can’t carry on the way she is any longer before agreeing to be admitted to hospital. When the car arrives to take Jean away, Mo and Charlie are riddled with guilt and as Jean’s about to climb into the car, she blows Stacey a kiss before being driven away.

Meanwhile, Danielle’s spent the night at Ronnie’s flat. She explains to Ronnie that the news of the pregnancy came as a shock to her and now she doesn’t know that to do for the best. Ronnie however seems to have the situation all wrapped up in her head when she hears that the baby’s father won’t want anything to do with Danielle.

When Danielle returns from the DVD shop, she’s stunned to see her father, Andy. She hears him talking about her younger brother and Danielle interrupts the conversation. He tells Danielle that the family miss her and that she should go back home with him. When Andy leaves, Danielle lies to Ronnie that her dad had suggested that she have an abortion – a situation that Ronnie knows a thing or two about. However, when Ronnie claims that the biggest mistake of her life was having a baby at such an early age, Danielle’s mind is made up; she’s having an abortion.

Elsewhere, Jay and Marissa continue to ‘bond’ as Jay’s bought her a new coat. Denise confronts Lucas about Jordan’s revelation but Lucas assures her that he’s commenced divorce proceedings with Trina.
