Coming up on Emmerdale

On Monday, Bob’s unmoved by Terry and Jamie’s appeals that he should visit Viv, but he eventually agrees and sets off to the prison. However, he decides not to go through with it and has to lie to Terry when asked about the visit.
He heads home to reflect on his cowardice but is interrupted by Gennie’s unexpected appearance. Bob admits to Gennie that he couldn’t bring himself to visit Viv as he has to accept that he’s already lost her. As Gennie drops a wine cork on the floor, Bob tries to retrieve it and the pair bump heads. Gennie takes Bob’s face in her hands to check for any damage and when their eyes lock, Gennie moves in for a kiss. Bob reciprocates and the moment becomes more passionate, leading inexorably towards the bedroom. Has Bob made a huge mistake?
Meanwhile, relations are sour between Val and Pollard. They get no better when Val ignores her husband’s protestations and goes on an extravagant spending spree. Val tries to make light of their financial difficulties but Pollard states the reality in plain detail. Val’s shocked to realise the extent of their peril and suggests that Pollard get a job. Pollard feels he’s too old to start over again, but will necessity force a change of opinion?

Also, Debbie’s annoyed when a mysterious stranger queue jumps at the café. When she kicks up a fuss, he apologises and introduces himself as Michael Conway – a supplier to the Home Farm shop. There’s a clear mutual attraction between them which is sparked again when their eyes meet in the Woolpack later that day. However, any resumption of their conversation is foiled when Cain enters, revealing he’s booked Debbie and Sarah a holiday. Debbie’s grateful and pecks her dad on the cheek, a gesture which induces jealousy from an unenlightened Michael. Has circumstance lost Debbie a potential admirer?

On Tuesday, Bob’s appalled with what he’s done and almost confesses it to Jamie. Unable to keep a lid on his guilt, Bob tells Terry that he slept with Gennie and decides to go to the prison and tell Viv the truth, only to find out she’s been released! Viv arrives home from prison and Brenda pounces on her thinking she’s a thief. A stunned Paddy is confronted with the sight of both women having a titanic battle amidst the shop goods.
After Paddy explains the situation, Brenda’s horrified to realise she attacked her new business partner. Meanwhile, Bob races home and urges Gennie to steer clear of the shop and café for fear of bumping into Viv. Bob then takes the twins home, preparing for an emotional reunion. However, when the twins don’t recognise their mum and things are strained between Viv and Bob, it’s clear settling back into her old life is going to be far from straightforward.
As they discuss Bob’s no-show at the prison, Viv berates him for his course of action and when Bob also asks her to give the twins time to adjust, Viv feels more and more like a stranger in her own home. Will Bob divulge the real reason for the sour atmosphere?

Elsewhere, Michael drops his car in at the garage to get some work done and is pleasantly surprised to discover it’s owned by Debbie. After Debbie introduces him to Cain, Michael’s pleased to discover she’s single. Debbie agrees to go on a date with Michael and the pair get on really well. Michael’s impressed to hear how Debbie’s built up her business almost single-handedly, but when asked about her family, Debbie fails to tell him that she has a daughter. Michael drives her home and Debbie hopes for a second date, only to be upset to hear that he isn’t from the area.

Meanwhile, Eddy continues to charm the village ladies and Turner’s surprised when Eddy asks him to think about travelling round the world with him. Edna’s unimpressed when Turner sets off for a ride with Eddy, but he turns out to be a real hit with Lily. After thoroughly enjoying the ride with Eddy, Turner’s persuaded to join his friend and the ladies for a drink in the Woolpack. Eddy regales Turner’s friends with tales of his hell raising younger days and they sing his praises to a thoughtful Turner. They then spend the whole afternoon reminiscing, but Turner thinks he can’t keep up with Eddy’s relentless lifestyle.
On Wednesday, Viv finds village life difficult to get back into. Noticing this, Bob intervenes when Brenda attempts to tell Viv about her part ownership of the businesses. However, Brenda gets cross when Viv begins ordering her around and she vows to Terry that she’ll take action if Bob doesn’t come clean. Val takes delight in telling Viv that Brenda owns half the business and adds that she used to have a crush on Bob. Viv then accuses her husband of playing away, but Bob’s irritated and states that Brenda saved their lives. Later, Terry goes round to tell Viv that there’s no way that Brenda and Bob had an affair. Viv seems convinced but then informs Terry that she’s sure Bob’s been seeing someone else and is determined to get to the bottom of it. Will Viv sift through the lies and uncover Bob’s infidelity?
Meanwhile, Cain revels in telling Michael about Sarah and is convinced it’ll scare him off. However, he’s unfazed by Debbie having a daughter and asks her out again. Debbie lets him down gently but undaunted, he comes back and offers to take Debbie out on a different night. She declines because of Sarah but soon regrets her decision. Back home, Debbie’s furious with Cain for his blatant scheming and worries that she’s missed a golden opportunity. Will Debbie see Michael again?
Elsewhere, Bob visits Gennie to clear the air. Gennie lies and says that she accepts their sleeping together was a mistake and she promises Bob she’d never come between him and Viv. Gennie’s alarmed to learn that a row over Brenda has caused a rift between Bob and Viv and continues to feel bad about what she’s done. Jamie’s upset for his friend when Gennie makes it clear she’s given up on love. Can he convince her there are other fish in the sea?

On Thursday, Terry forewarns Bob that Viv’s suspicious he’s seeing someone. Bob decides to take Viv and the twins for a picnic but Viv’s still obsessed with the idea that Bob’s been unfaithful. Bob finds it difficult to face Viv in light of his infidelity, but he assures her he’s done nothing wrong. They find some common ground when caring for Cathy and Heath and Bob urges Viv to look to their future as a family. Their old spark is back and Viv’s sorry she ever doubted Bob. Can Bob live with his overwhelming sense of guilt?
Also, Debbie agrees to let Andy see Sarah, despite Cain’s objections. Andy’s delighted to see his daughter but that all changes when Diane’s needed in the pub. Left alone, Andy dissolves into tears. Sarah’s scared by Andy’s strange behaviour and is glad when Diane offers to take her back to Debbie’s. Debbie’s slightly angered that Diane didn’t keep watch over them, but Diane pleads to be given another chance. Will Debbie allow Andy anywhere near their daughter again?
Meanwhile, Jimmy raises the question of substitute birthing partners to an unenthused Nicola. Despite her mood, Jimmy pushes ahead with the idea and Nicola asks Laurel to be her stand in birth partner should Jimmy not be around. Laurel accepts and Nicola’s glad the decision has been made. However, Jimmy’s not satisfied and rallies Laurel and Ashley for a meeting of ‘team Nicola’. Laurel finds Jimmy’s enthusiasm funny when he begins to explain the pregnancy schedule to her. Nicola groans at Jimmy’s behaviour as his eagerness shows no sign of dissipating.

On Friday, Debbie regretfully explains to Diane that Andy can’t be alone with Sarah until he’s better. Cain weighs in and tries to warn off Andy in the village, but he’s unnerved by Andy’s strange behaviour. In a world of his own, Andy journeys “home” to Butlers. After taking a nap in one of the barns, Andy’s woken up by the sound of strange voices. He investigates and witnesses the Barton family moving in. Moira lets out a gasp when she sees Andy’s vacant face watching them but, undeterred, John makes his introductions. Andy breaks down as he remembers the farm is no longer his home, so, slightly concerned about his mental health, Moira and John call Diane and she takes Andy back home. How will the Barton’s take to life in the village?
Meanwhile, Bob’s confused when Viv avoids a proper reintroduction to village life. Bob convinces her to spend a morning serving in the café and soon enough, Viv’s back to her charming self prompting Brenda to remark on the impressive teamwork displayed by her partners. Terry arrives to tell Brenda that they’ve been invited for a drink with Bob and Viv. However, Viv argues that she isn’t ready to face a jam-packed Woolpack, but Bob again convinces her. The pub turns out to be fairly quiet and Viv eases herself further back into her old life while Bob tells Terry how glad he is to finally have his wife back. He also says he’ll definitely be keeping quiet about sleeping with Gennie. Is Bob ready to move on with his life?
Much to his dismay, Natasha hands Mark the reigns of the shop in preparation for her holiday. Mark’s upset when Natasha belittles him in front of the farm shop staff and realises that no amount of apologies will change Natasha’s feelings towards him. As Doug and Leyla get busy around him in the shop, Mark’s miserable as it’s the last place he wants to be. How will Mark cope without Natasha?
