The morning after the night before, Val has a mountain to climb in order to build bridges with Paul. While many of Val’s words of comfort only serve to dig her hole deeper, Lily is able to make amends with Paul.

As he agonises over Jonny’s decision, Lily suggests he go and visit him. Despite Paul arguing that Jonny went away without telling him, Lily’s determined to sort them out. Meanwhile, Val refuses to give up on her son too and invites Patricia over.

On Wednesday, Paul’s in a quandary over whether to go in search of Jonny but Laurel tells him to try, otherwise he’ll never know whether it could work.

In the Woolpack, Lily and Leyla are talking about Paul’s trip but neither realise that Val has overheard. She immediately goes to find Rodney and he’s shocked to realise that nobody can find Paul.

While Val elaborately complains that she’s lost her son, Rodney finds him at Home Farm helping Katie. Telling him that Val knows, Paul goes to the pub where a showdown ensues.

When Rodney defends Paul’s decision to go, Val slams his ‘fair-weather parenting’. Rodney gives Paul his blessing and leaves. A desperate Val lies to Paul that Rodney has a serious heart condition to make him stay. Will Paul be convinced by his mother’s black lie?

After sweeping into the village on horseback, Mark and Natasha Wylde interrupt the Thomas’s leaving party and loudly order a round of champagne.

As the villagers become more annoyed, the Wyldes try reason with them and calm the baying mob, but the Woolpack soon rings with a chorus of boos. Determined to silence the angry regulars, Natasha explains her intentions; they bought Home Farm to live in and they bought the church to give back to the community she says.

The villagers are overjoyed and full of praise for the Wyldes and as Natasha charms her new neighbours, Mark’s disgruntled as it’s clear that Natasha has made the church arrangements up on the spot.
Afterwards, the Wyldes bask in new found glory at Home Farm, confident that they’ve got the villagers eating from the palms of their hands.

Meanwhile, Rodney’s bemused when Paul refers to the supposed terminal illness that Val has invented. Later, Paul’s worried when Rodney answers the door out of breath, only to discover that his father’s quickened pulse is due to a keep-fit session.

Covering for herself, Val tells Paul that he needs to think of an excuse to stay in the village as Rodney wouldn’t forgive himself for holding him back. Will Val’s lie last long enough to keep Paul in the village?

Elsewhere, Lisa’s cautious when Aaron offers to take care of Belle after school. Enjoying spending time with her, Aaron agrees to help with the dinner but when Belle points out that the sausages are about to burn, Aaron tells her to just take it easy and he heads upstairs.

Belle takes it upon herself to lift the heavy grill pan, just as Lisa and Chas return home. Aaron receives the full brunt of Lisa’s anger and reacts badly to the dressing down, leaving Chas upset to once again find her son in the doghouse. Can Chas make the Dingles love Aaron too?

On Friday, Aaron overhears Lisa telling the other Dingles about the Wyldes’ arrival at Home Farm and takes Belle to ‘welcome’ them to the village. Stealing from the Wyldes’ removal van, Aaron’s startled by Natasha and leaves Belle to get caught but Belle refuses to divulge the truth when she’s questioned.

A furious Natasha takes Belle to Lisa and demands her possessions are returned by lunch time. Despite Belle’s reluctance, Lisa confronts Aaron and is furious to discover his guilt. Enraged by his lack of remorse, Lisa kicks Aaron out. Vowing to stick by her son, Chas goes too, but can she raise her son alone?

Elsewhere, Mark begins to get his bearings at Home Farm but his and Natasha’s attempts to settle in are hampered by incompetent removal men.

After expressing their complaints in the village, the Wyldes are stunned when various villagers, including Rodney and Betty, turn up to help with the unpacking and regale their new neighbours with a potted history of Home Farm.

As more guests arrive, the Thomas’s officially meet their new landlords and eyebrows are raised when Natasha mentions they’ll be charging rent on the vicarage. When the chaos dies down, Mark and Natasha reflect on the fun they’ll have integrating into the country lifestyle. Is Emmerdale ready for a new king and queen of the Dales?

Also, Lisa invites Marlon and Donna to Zak’s birthday party but he’s unsure of the reception his wayward wife will receive. He tells Donna, who feels it’s best they attend, before she shows him a letter calling her as a witness in Ross’s trial.

Later, Marlon’s forced to vigorously defend Donna when she comes under fire from Shadrach and Zak, but he lets slip about the surprise party at the same time. Although embarrassed, Marlon insists that the Dingles make Donna feel welcome. Will the party go off with a bang?
