Coming up this week on Coronation Street
In Monday’s first visit to the Street, Roy’s delighted that Hayley’s decided not to return to Africa but it’s clear that she’s still struggling to settle back into life in Weatherfield. She starts out by telling Roy that she doesn’t want to talk about it but by the end of the day, she confesses that she had a crush on one of the staff in Africa and feels very foolish. The ever forgiving Roy tells her to pretend that she’s just returned and they’ll put it all behind them.
Elsewhere, Steve’s on the phone to Becky reassuring her that he’ll be in court for her on Wednesday but he soon discovers that it isn’t going to be easy. Michelle’s parents are coming over for their anniversary and she wants to throw a party for them and Becky’s devastated when she discovers that she’s lost her star witness.
Amber confides in Molly that she told Tara about Dev and Nina, over which Dev is still furious, so Amber tells him she’s going to spend some time with her mother in Finland. Meanwhile, Minnie asks if she can work in the kebab shop.
Tina and David are keen to find out if Graeme got rid of the car and are surprised when he says the Windasses stole it so problem solved.
Elsewhere, Fiz, Kirk and Chesney return from South Africa and agree not to talk about what Cilla did. Fiz asks for her job back but Tony gives Hayley the job instead.
In the second of the night’s episodes, Steve’s relieved when Michelle announces that she’s taking her mum and dad out in the morning, which is just the solution that Steve and Becky need to allow him to go to court. However, his relief is short lived when Michelle presents him with a list of things to do whilst she’s out.
As the day goes on, Becky’s faced with more and more evidence of how much she’s asking Steve to risk. She hears Liz talking about how Michelle has grown on her and overhears Barry saying how much Steve’s part of the Connor family, leading Becky to reach a difficult decision.
Amber won’t listen to Dev as he tries to stop her from leaving and she says goodbye to Darryl, who’s been left jobless and homeless, knowing that he may not be there when she returns. But it isn’t long before Dev realises that he can’t run the kebab shop alone and has to go cap-in-hand to a relieved Darryl.
Hayley’s desperate to help Roy out at the cafe but Roy has everything under control, leaving her feeling somewhat redundant.
It isn’t until both Becky and Fiz makes it clear to her how much they struggled with their problems when she wasn’t around, that she starts to realise she might have a talent she can put to good use.
Elsewhere, Gary’s annoyed when he realises he did David and Graeme a favour by getting rid of the stolen car.
On Wednesday, in an hour long episode, it’s the day of Becky’s court case and she’s convinced that without Steve to testify, she’ll definitely go to prison. Steve, meanwhile, knows he should be grateful that he doesn’t have to go to court but somehow, it doesn’t feel that way.
As the time of the case draws nearer, Steve desperately tries to get away but it seems everything is conspiring against him. When he does finally get to the court, he’s frustrated to discover that the case has been postponed to the afternoon and he has to resort to desperate measures to get there.
Once on the witness stand, he’s stunned to see Blanche in the public gallery but he’s committed to helping Becky. He surprises himself and everyone else with the heartfelt character witness and alibi he gives.
As Becky is acquitted, Steve tries to to convince Blanche that he was merely helping out a friend but when Becky comes out of court, his real emotions take over, shocking both of them and they end up in a hotel room!
Back on the Street, Tony’s surprised and delighted when Carla arrives home unexpectedly, but he knows he’ll now have to come clean about taking the money from their account. Carla rather likes his new vulnerable side and after he takes her out for a romantic meal, she turns the tables on him and proposes.
Gary and Len have developed a plan to get their own back on the Platts without anyone getting hurt so, waiting till the coast’s clear, they sneak into the house and a stunned Gail and Joe return from their weekend away to find that the kitchen has disappeared…
Elsewhere, Michelle’s parents party goes to plan, despite Steve’s elaborate plans to get to the court case and Norris has a date with a fellow competition addict while Hayley gets an interview for a job at the youth centre.
On Friday, Steve’s desperate to see Becky but feels very guilty when Michelle thanks him for making her parents anniversary a success.
The day continues to get harder for him when Becky comes into the pub and offers to do a shift for him so he can spend some time with Michelle’s dad, but he flips when Jason arrives at the Rovers with a gift for Becky and embarrasses her with an outburst about what a rat Jason was.
The factory girls are relieved to see Carla but Sally’s surprised when Tony announces that they’re getting married. She tells Kevin who’s also shocked but he tells her they should forget all about the video, but he isn’t keen on Carla paying Rosie a visit.
Joe and David are preparing to rebuild the kitchen after the Windasses’ handy work and Gail’s sick of Graeme being around so she tells David it’s time his mate moved on.
Hayley’s worried about the interview and is convinced she won’t get the job because a criminal record check is bound to reveal details of her past which will disqualify her. Roy however thinks they would be fools not to employ her.
Elsewhere, Dev’s struggling to run the kebab shop but Tina’s not interested in a job until he reluctantly raises the rate of pay.
In the 8.30pm episode, Becky can’t believe that Steve’s told her he loves and gives him every opportunity to back out. However, Steve convinces her that he’s serious and insists that he’s going to tell Michelle straight away.
Once back at the pub though, family life takes over and with Michelle and her family worrying about Maria’s scan, he realizes that splitting up with Michelle isn’t going to be easy. Will he ever find the right moment to break the news?
Michelle, Barry and Helen go with Maria to the hospital for her appointment; she’s terrified and almost backs out of it but is eventually persuaded to have the scan and is relieved when it turns out that everything’s fine.
Deirdre returns home from France and is greeted by Peter and Simon but she’s surprised when they disappear as soon as Ken arrives. Ken and Blanche fill her in on what’s happened while she’s been away but Deirdre insists they’re still going to be part of the boy’s life.
Joe’s having trouble with a credit card company but doesn’t admit it to Gail. He’s quizzed about it by Tina and tries to make out everything is fine but she’s not convinced.
Rosie gets a visit from Carla and Tony and is confident that she has them both in the palm of her hand. Tony can see that Carla has no choice but to agree when Rosie asks for a pay rise and he asks Rosie to man the office when he takes Carla on honeymoon.
Elsewhere, there is disappointment for Hayley but good news for Graeme.
