CONTINUUM KICK STARTS THE FIFTH SEASON OF STARGATE ATLANTIS
This August sci-fi fans will welcome the return of the hugely popular series STARGATE ATLANTIS, which premieres exclusively on Sky One with its fifth season, and in the week prior, a screening of the latest feature length STARGATE SG-1 spin off, STARGATE: CONTINUUM. This time-travel adventure promises to build anticipation towards this next thrilling chapter in the STARGATE ATLANTIS series.
STARGATE: CONTINUUM opens with the SG-1 attending the execution of Ba’al, the last of the Goa’uld System Lords, only to witness members of the team Teal’c and Vala suddenly disappear. Carter (Amanda Tapping), Daniel (Michael Shanks) and Mitchell (Ben Browder) quickly discover that history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from time. Who is responsible, and how can the program be restored? Writer Brad Wright ensures the film will be an action-packed ride, full of surprises – including the inclusion of many guest stars that featured in the STARGATE SG-1 series, namely Major General Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) and President Henry Hayes (Golden Globe® nominee William Devane).
The following week, STARGATE ATLANTIS picks up from season four’s nail-biting cliffhanger. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), McKay (David Hewlett), Ronon (Jason Momoa) and Lorne (Kavan Smith) are trapped in the collapsed compound they entered in the season finale, and kidnapped Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) remains in Wraith Michael’s clutches. Carter hears of their predicament and launches a rescue operation, but little does she know Michael and his hybrid army have already set off on a mission to recover the injured team. Will Carter be able to save them in time, and will Teyla manage to escape the Wraith? The season promises to be one of the best yet, and will feature the introduction of a new race, as well as the show’s milestone 100th episode.
STARGATE: CONTINUUM, Tuesday 12 August at 8pm; STARGATE ATLANTIS Season Five, Tuesday 19 August at 8pm, Sky One & Sky One HD

Even though I am not a fan of time travel plots the return of Ba’al as well as the Tok’Ra takes some of the sting out of it. Not to mention the fact that William Devaine always makes me wish that his character really was the President of the United States.
