Corrie star Ben Price – who plays Nick Tilsley – has revealed that when he heard about plans for the show’s 50th anniversary crash storyline, he wasn’t happy.

And it seems he wasn’t the only cast member to take the news that several Weatherfield residents were to be killed off…

During an appearance on Loose Women, Ben discussed hearing about the plotline. He said, “It wasn’t a great day. You understand the show goes through progressions…

“I haven’t been there very long, so for other people it’s a real family but I think a lot of people at one time can be very unbalancing.”

But Ben did acknowledge that such a “spectacular” storyline was befitting of such an important landmark in the show’s history.

He added, “I think it’s very, very exciting for the show and for the viewers you need that.

“It’s 50 years. It’s such a huge milestone there has to be a big event, I think.”

The 50th anniversary episodes featuring the crash will air in December.
