Sean Wilson has revealed that he decided to leave Coronation Street, after finding out that bosses planned to turn his character into a paedophile.

Bang Showbiz reports that producers on the show were planning for Martin Platt to have an affair with a 14 year old. It was a plot which actor Sean Wilson couldn’t bring himself to be part of.

He said: “The reason I left was because they wanted my character to have an affair with a 14-year-old schoolgirl.

“I said I didn’t like the idea of that, they said I was doing it, so I said, ‘OK – I’ll get my coat.’

“I didn’t think they gave me as much respect as my 21 years on the show deserved. They would have to be very persuasive if they wanted me back.”
