Coronation Street bosses have been forced to scrap a huge catfight between Michelle and Becky on the ITV soap due to Kym Marsh’s recent pregnancy announcement.

The pair were due to tear strips off each other next month when Michelle saw Becky wearing an engagement ring that Steve MacDonald had originally picked for her. However Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor on the show, has since announced that she is pregnant with Jamie Lomas’ baby, meaning that the scene has to be scaled down.

A Street source told The Sun: “The love triangle between Michelle, Steve and Becky has had viewers gripped for months and we were planning a really shocking climax.

“But when we realised Kym was expecting we toned things down. What was to have been a full on brawl has turned into hair-pulling and drink throwing.”

The source added: “It’s still a great scene. Michelle is furious when she sees Becky sporting her sparkler and lets rip.

“When she calls her a ‘whippet in a frock who can’t keep her knickers up’, Becky goes ballistic.”
