Coronation Street stars dress up for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

With the Queens Diamond Jubilee almost upon us, the big question in Soap Land is how the locals are going to celebrate the event? Well, it looks like the cast of Coronation Street plan on dressing up for the occasion in style. Fancy dress style!

All the soaps are keeping very tight-lipped about their jubilee plans. However, pictures have emerged from the Coronation Streets set of a few cast members dressed as famous British singers!

As you can see from the pictures, which were featured in today’s Sun and Daily Mail newspapers, Corrie veteran Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald in the ITV soap, was spotted wearing a full Beatles outfit, complete with trademark Lennon sunglasses and psychedelic purple shirt, reminiscent from the type worn during the Sgt Pepper era.

Also spotted was Paula Lane, who plays Kylie Platt on the cobbles, was snapped wearing an Amy Winehouse costume, complete with beehive hair do and replica tattoo’s.

Jimmi Harkishin (Dev Alahan) had gone all out dressed as Adam and the Ants, Charlie Condou (Marcus) looks like he is coming as part of the Monkee’s and Samia Ghadie (Maria) looks like she may have gone for a Madonna look from her more recent styles.

It is thought that the episode they were filming is to be aired over the Queen’s jubilee weekend, with all the cast dressed as iconic singers from the past 60 years,  in recognition of the nation wide celebrations taking place to mark the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation .

Whilst both Gregson and Lane’s costumes were easy to work out, a big question over who Anthony Cotton (Sean Tully) will be coming as remains, as he was seen walking around the set in pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers!
