Coronation Street: Karen may return, but should she reunite with Steve?
Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly has revealed that Suranne Jones has expressed an interest in returning to the ITV soap.
Katherine’s plays loud-mouthed Becky Grainger, about to marry Steve McDonald. Suranne’s character Karen was once married to Steve, so the pair would have a lot in common but something tells me they wouldn’t be bosom buddies.
Speaking in the latest issue of Radio Times, Kelly said: “I’d love to work with [Suranne]. She’s so up for coming back just to have a fight. She says she’d love to come back for the 50th [in 2010].”
She added: “We could tear each other to bits. Or else get on really well and slag Steve off, which would worry him more. It’d be brilliant.”
I would love to see Karen back on our screens. She was so fiery and Suranne is such a versatile actress, I think she would be a great addition to what is fast becoming a very boring cast. Bring back Karen, get her back with Steve, fix up Becky with the new Nick Tilsey or maybe with Peter Barlow and we’d be all sorted.

Completely disagree – Suranne Jones is amazing – Karen and Steve were easily one of the best on-screen relationships ever; fiery, comical, emotional at times, a whole mound of talent! Bring her back and I wouldn’t be missing ONE single episode if corrie!
