Former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly has revealed that she would never say never to a Becky McDonald return to the show.
Kelly, who has just starred in the epic ITV period drama Mr Selfridge, left our Coronation Street screens as Becky McDonald back in 2012 after starring in some of the shows biggest and most hard-hitting storylines.
Unreality TV caught up with Katherine Kelly at last year’s British Soap Awards where she revealed to us how much she was enjoying making Mr Selfridge as well as returning to her roots of being on stage.
However, Katherine has now revealed to new! magazine that she would be open to a soap return, if that soap was Coronation Street!
Speaking to the publication, the actress explained:
”If I was going to be in a soap again, I imagine it would be Corrie.
“I’ve always said I’d never rule out a return. I had a great time there. I’d always consider it.”
With regards to her previous much loved character Kelly admits she misses her, although not her bleached-blonde hair:
“It was hard work being a blonde when you’re as dark as me. Thankfully, I had a brilliant hairdresser otherwise my hair would have just dropped out,”
As for future plans, now that the current series of Mr Selfridge, in which she plays Lady Mae Loxley, has come to an end, Kelly went on to reveal that she has no intentions of flocking to the other side of the pond to try and find a name in America:
“I lived in America as a child. I’ve got a Green Card, so I could go over if I wanted to, but things are going so well for me in the UK, I don’t know why I’d want to. I think we make fantastic television.”
Whilst on Coronation Street Katherine Kelly built up a huge fan base for both herself and her character, Becky McDonald.
Now, with her ex-husband Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) back with Michelle Connor (Kim Lomas), the woman that Becky stole him from, the question remains as to how, why and when Becky could make a return.
