Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly has admitted that she doesn’t take her character’s popularity for granted and never assumes that she has ‘made it.’

Katherine plays the crazy but loveable Becky Grainger in the ITV soap and is due to marry her on screen boyfriend, Steve McDonald this week.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Kelly explained: “Things happen here so fast you don’t always get a chance to step back and see the bigger picture. Becky was there for two years before Steve noticed her – and in the past six months they’ve married twice.

“But I honestly don’t feel I’ve ‘made it’. I really don’t. Coronation Street is ‘it’ – no-one’s bigger than the show and it will go on no matter who comes and who goes. It just keeps evolving. It’s all ebbs and flows, just like life. I’m on a wave as Becky at the moment but it could run out at any time.”
