Coronation Street News: US icon Robert Vaughn to use Betty Driver’s dressing room

And a snog from Rosie Webster makes Jason Grimshaw crash his van!

The Daily Mirror reports today that when US iconic actor Robert Vaughn temporarily joins the cast of Corrie this week, he’s being given the honour of using the late Betty Driver’s dressing room.

A show insider told the paper that since Betty died in October, nobody has used her dressing room at Granada studios, however, the show’s bosses felt it fitting that a star such as Vaughn should use the room.

Robert – who of course previously starred in cult American drama The Man From UNCLE – will play the role of wealthy yank Milton, who arrives in Weatherfield looking for Roy Cropper’s mum Sylvia (Stephanie Cole) who he met on a recent cruise.

We’ll see him on our screens for the first time in the New Year.

The show source said, “It’s an honour to get Betty’s room – she is still sorely missed…

“And what a fitting person to be first in. They don’t come much more famous than Robert Vaughn.”

Very true.

In other Corrie news, the Sun and the Daily Mail both report today that in a forthcoming episode, when Rosie Webster, who’s played by Helen Flanagan, and Jason Grimshaw, who’s played by Ryan Thomas – brother of Emmerdale star Adam Thomas – share a quick snog in his van, it proves to have been a really bad idea…

And somewhat bizarrely, it’s a fiction mirroring real life incident – sort of – given Helen recently had a bump herself!

Back to the storyline though, which begins when Jason waits behind a parked car before moving off into traffic, temptress Rosie asks him for a passionate kiss, and he’s only too happy to oblige, however, he knocks off the handbrake and his van shunts the car in front.

It seems nobody is injured, but they’re going to have a tough time explaining the mishap to their insurance company!

Catch those scenes next week.
