Fans of Corrie will recall that male escort Lewis Archer was an upper-class cad and a bounder, however, when he returns to Weatherfield on February 17th, it seems he’s a changed man…

So says Nigel Havers, who of course plays the smooth as a cashmere codpiece ladies’ man.

And while speaking to Inside Soap about Lewis’ shock return to the Street – where, when last seen, he’d been taking Audrey Roberts for a right royal ride – Nigel explained that he’s back to try to make amends to those he wronged.

He said, “There’s always that danger Lewis could fall back into his old ways, and he is down to his last penny.

“But at the moment, Lewis is trying his hardest and has no ulterior motive – just an awful lot of ice to break instead.

“He’s back to apologise and repay the debts he owes…

“Lewis feels desperately bad about what he did, and he’s going to be quite busy saying sorry over the next few weeks!”

However, despite his seemingly good intentions, Nigel – who’s also starred recently in Downton Abbey – doesn’t know if Audrey (Sue Nicholls) will forgive Lewis for duping her.

He said, “He still has an eye for Audrey, but will she feel the same? I really think Lewis fell for her while they were together the first time – and that’s why he didn’t take her money in the end.”

Nigel added, “Sue was part of the reason for me coming back to Coronation Street. We’ve been having a laugh about Lewis returning for some time now.”
