The prodigal son, Peter Barlow is due to return to Coronation Street in the next few months with a secret 5 year old love child in tow.

Peter has been left Simon by his ex wife Lucy, before she died of cancer.

But fatherhood doesn’t sit well with Peter, so he moves back in with Ken and Deirdre to get a helping hand.

A soap source told The Sun: “He is stunned by his son’s arrival. He doesn’t know the first thing about kids.” Peter even tries to give Simon away after sinking double whiskies in the Rovers Return. The insider said he blurts out: “Does anybody want a five-year-old kid? I’ve got one I don’t want.”
