Coronation Street: See pic of Becky McDonald’s last goodbye to Weatherfield!

by Lynn Connolly

As fans of Corrie will know, Katherine Kelly – who plays Becky McDonald – is leaving the show, and last night, she filmed her final and emotional scenes as Becky said goodbye to Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).

The Sun’s TV Biz reports that Katherine and Simon were snapped filming their farewell outside Manchester’s Midland Hotel last night.

Becky’s exit storyline begins when Steve finally tells her that he wants to be with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) for the sake of their daughter Amy, and for the twins that Tracy’s carrying.

However, he makes it clear to Becky that he’ll always love her, and she tells him that she feels that same, but adds that she can’t stick around Weatherfield to watch Steve and Tracy playing happy families…

But Tracy has got wind of the fact that Steve’s meeting Becky at a hotel, and wrongly assumes they’re there for a night of passion, so she storms round there in a taxi, ready to fight for her man, but there’s no need as Becky’s just about to go for good.

Before Becky goes though – in scenes which will air after Christmas – the show’s bosses are to bring in former Casualty actor Jeremy Sheffield as a love interest for the fiery former barmaid.

However, it’s to be short lived romance but it’s not clear if Jeremy will stay on in the Street.

Last April, when Katherine first announced her intention to leave the show, she explained, “I handed in my notice and they had to break us [Becky and Steve] up!

“I think if I wasn’t going, I really think that it would still go on.

“In fact, I know when Kate Ford came back, I spoke to the producer and he said, ‘This is what is going to happen, and if you decide to stay then it won’t break them up, and if you do decide to go then it will break them up’.”

I’m really going to miss Becky. Are you?

Let’s take a quick look at some classic Becky moments…
