Chris Gascoyne returns to Coronation Street this week and one of his new plots mirrors real life more closely than he would probably like.

This Christmas Chris’s character, Peter Barlow, will be seem trying to drive his car whilst under the influence of alcohol. In real life last January Chris was banned from driving after being caught behind the wheel while over the legal alcohol limit.

An insider told The Sun: “There were a few eyebrows raised when people realised Chris’s character would be seen in such a way. But he’s a professional and will just get on with turning in a great performance for Peter Barlow.”
