As far as surprise couples go, we can’t help feeling that this one could end up being a fairytale romance, as two of the most beautiful people in soap land, Maria Connor and Jason Grimshaw, become an item in Coronation Street.

Maria (Samia Ghadie) has been notoriously unlucky in love ever since her teenage years when she had Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) stolen from her by Fiz Stape (Jenny McAlpine), but things could be set to change in the young crimper’s love life!

Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) was left broken-hearted after dozy-Rosie Webster left the cobbles of Weatherfield earlier this year to pursue a reality TV career, but after an evening with Maria one thing leads to another, leaving the question as to whether it is the start of a new relationship, or just a one night stand?

Reports and pictures in today’s Daily Star newspaper show the couple getting very cosy together after a night in, and when Jason leans in to kiss the single mum, she responds positively.

However, viewers will be left waiting to find out if this is the start of what might well be the hottest coupling on the Street since Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) and Tommy Duckworth(Chris Fountain), as bosses at the award-winning ITV soap are keeping details of what happens next tightly under-wraps!

A soap insider told the paper: “Jason’s been single since his former girlfriend Rosie Webster dumped him andmoved to London.

“Maria is a good-looking girl so it was only a matter of time before he cracked on to her.

“They’ve lived in the same street for years and have both been around a bit.

“So with them now both single it wasn’t going to be long before they were paired up.

“Whether this kiss leads to anything more remains to be seen.

“But Maria could have a lot of fun with Jason – he would certainly know how to put the smile back on her face.

“Jason has always thought that she was fit, so when she responds to his kiss he knows he’s got a good chance with her.

“They could make a really cute couple.”
