Coronation Street Spoilers! Chesney and Katy fear their baby is disabled!

Chesney Battersby (Sam Aston) and Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) will soon hear the devastating news that their unborn baby may have the hereditary disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndromen which Katy’s sister Izzy (Cherylee Houston) has.

The disease has of course more or less confined Izzy to a wheelchair, and when Chesney and Katy hear that their baby could have the disease, they’ll be left with an agonizing wait while tests are carried out.

The Daily Star states, “Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, for which there is no known cure, is a group of disorders that shares common features including easy bruising, loose joints and weaknesses of the tissues.”

The young couple will hear the news later this month after attending an ante-natal clinic for a scan of their baby.

In turmoil, Katy turns to her dad Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) for comfort, and he tells her, “Just look at our Izzy! She lives a completely normal and happy life and what baby could ever have a better role model than her to look up to?

“And whatever happens I’ll be here for both you and the baby.”

The storyline is due to run until the baby is born at Christmas, and is billed as being one of this year’s big “cliffhangers” over the festive period.
