Fans of Corrie will of course know that Karl Munro (John Michie) started the blaze in the Rovers which, as we’ll find out in tonight’s visit to the Street, has already claimed one life and is about to take another when in next week’s episodes, Sunita Alahan dies…

However, Karl – who’s now guilty of murder, or at least manslaughter – covered his tracks well on the night of the fire by sneaking out of the Bistro and back in unseen, so when the fire services finds that arson caused the blaze, the finger of suspicion will point firmly to tragic Sunita (Shobna Gulati).

Next week, after Sunita passes away in hospital, her estranged husband Dev will of course have to break the news to their children Asha and Aadi that their mum has died…

And worse yet, as word spreads around the Street’s residents that the police think Sunita started the fire – a conclusion they’ll come to after Karl plants the Rovers’ keys he stole among her belongings – Dev and the kids will have to face the tragic mum’s funeral believing her to be “evil”.

The Daily Star reports, “In forthcoming scenes on the soap, they kick up a fuss when Dev (Jimmi Harkishin, 53) tries to get them looking their best for her funeral to make their mum proud.”

Asha tells her dad, “Why? She can’t feel anything, she’s dead. She’s not in heaven, she’s been a bad person.

“Everyone says she burned down the Rovers.”

As Dev struggles to cope with his own and his children’s feelings about Sunita’s death, Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) will do her best to assure the kids that their mum wasn’t a bad person.

She’ll tell them, “She will be in heaven…

“Your mum was the one of the best people I’ve ever met.”

We’ll see Sunita’s funeral on Friday 12 April, but for now, here’s a look at tonight’s episode when Gloria (Sue Johnston) pleads with her unconscious daughter Stella (Michelle Collins) to fight for her life…
