It’s no secret that Rob Donovan and Peter Barlow cannot stand each other, which of course causes problems for Peter’s girlfriend Carla Connor (Alison King) given that Rob is her brother…

However, she has of course had her fair share of run-ins with Rob (Marc Baylis) not least of which came recently when Carla learned that Rob and his girlfriend Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) had staged a robbery that cost Carla thousands.

But as we’ll see next week, when Rob and Tracy suddenly get their hands on a lot of cash, many of the Street’s residents are left wondering where they got it from.

More on that in a moment, but first, back to Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Rob’s feud, and that’s set to escalate next week when Rob places a large accumulator bet after Peter offers his customers incredible odds in a bid to drum up more business at the ailing betting shop…

Carla’s fuming with Peter for taking the risk on offering the best odds in town, but he tells her that if he doesn’t take drastic action, he’ll be out of business, and he assures her that it will pay off. However, he’s worried when Rob places his £500 bet.

Meanwhile, Rob and Tracy meet up in the pub, and an excited Rob shows her a wad of cash – and tells her he’s bought a sports car – while telling her that he plans to open a cash converter type shop on the street…

He tells Tracy that if she wants in on it, she needs to come up with some cash of her own, and grinning, Tracy tells him that won’t be a problem.

Then, in the double-bill of episodes that air on Friday, July 19, Peter, Rob and Carla watch, hearts racing, as the deciding race ends with a photo finish. If Rob’s horse wins, he’s won £35,000, but if it doesn’t, he leaves with nothing.

And to Peter and Carla’s horror, Rob does win, leaving Peter to confess that he doesn’t have the cash to honour the bet, and that he’s now finished…

Will Rob make Peter pay up? Or can Carla talk her brother round and at least buy Peter some time?

And will Tracy’s mum Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) find out where she got all that cash from?
