As fans of Corrie will know, by way of protest at how her husband Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) treats her, his wife Sunita (Shobna Gulati) has taken a job in the Rovers as a barmaid…

And according to the Daily Star, she’s set to pull more than pints as she and taxi driver/barman Karl Munro (John Michie) are set to have an affair!

The show’s producer, Phil Collinson, told the paper, “There [have] been suggestions about Karl’s wandering eye but we’re going to see it for ourselves.

“Sunita is not someone you would expect, which makes it even more brilliant.

“It’ll play out for quite a while, but all hell will break loose when Stella [Michelle Collins] finds out…”

And it’s not the first time a Rovers’ barman has taken Sunita’s fancy; you may recall she was once engaged to Ciaran McCarthy (Keith Duffy), but, he got cold feet about marrying her, and on the rebound, she began a relationship with Danny Baldwin (Bradley Walsh). However, when she discovered he was married, she ditched him.

Since returning to the show – the character of Sunita was initially axed in 2005 by the then producer, Tony Wood – in 2009, Shobna has had some big storylines including being held hostage, and only just surviving the tram crash…

Mind you, when Stella and Dev find out, she might wish she hadn’t survived!
