Coronation Street Spoilers: The Syndicate star Jimi Mistry joins the cast as “charming rogue” Kal! Woohoo!
It’s been revealed today that Jimi Mistry – who recently starred in BBC drama The Syndicate as nurse Tom – has joined the cast of Coronation Street to play the role of Khalid, who’s described by ITV as “a charming rogue.”
We’ll first meet Khalid – who’s known as Kal – in the autumn when he’s introduced as Gary Windass’ (Mikey North) army buddy, who’s also a personal trainer.
And apparently, he’s set to make a great impression on the Street’s ladies, but not so much on their jealous men!
Of signing Jimi to the cast, Coronation Street Producer Stuart Blackburn said, “I’m thrilled to welcome Jimi to Coronation Street…
“Jimi’s character is going to have a swift impact on the lives of many in Weatherfield.”
Jimi first shot to fame playing the role of Dr Fred Fonseca on EastEnders, and after starring in a number of films – including, as mentioned above East is East, as well as Exam and It’s A Wonderful Afterlife – he took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, which is where he met his now fiancé, professional dancer, Flavia Cacace.
Jimi – who DJs in clubs around Britain and Europe – also produced, wrote and starred in critically acclaimed documentary And the Beat Goes On, which explores how the Spanish island of Ibiza has been central to the development of modern music.
Are you looking forward to seeing him in Corrie? I am! I love Jimi and developed something of a crush on him in East Is East…
Here’s a reminder of that brilliant film…
