There’s turmoil afoot in the love lives of some of the residents of Coronation Street, and specifically for neighbours Gail McIntyre and Sophie Webster, who are both about to learn that love hurts…
Not that this is news to Gail of course, whose love life is an ongoing car crash, but poor Sophie is naïve enough to believe that love conquers all, no matter what obstacles it faces!
Starting with Gail’s problems, she’s not yet aware she has any – well, not where lothario Lewis Archer is concerned anyway – because she had no idea that he’s romancing her with the sole intention of ruining her life, which he believes she did to him when she engineered the breakup of his relationship with her mother, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).
But it is indeed what he’s doing, and part of that plan is to tell Gail that he wants them to flee Weatherfield and start up a boutique hotel in Italy…
Behind Gail’s back, he’s also busy laying poison with her family, by first telling Kylie (Paula Lane) that she and David (Jack P Shepherd) should move out as Gail wants the house to herself for once.
However, Gail’s going to be devastated at the news that Kylie and David are going to leave, but once again, Lewis (Nigel Havers) will interject by hinting that selling up and moving to Italy could be the fresh start they need.
Lewis will also deliberately mess up an order that Gail placed for the Bistro, leaving her son Nick (Ben Price) furious that she’s landed him with dozens of boxes of olives!
They’re to set to row over it, which of course is exactly what Lewis intended, working on the theory that if he isolates Gail from her family, she’ll be more inclined to sell the house and pass the cash on to him. At which point, he’ll do a runner!
We’ll see Lewis cranking up his plan next week, but back to Sophie and her strife with Jenna, and things went the way of the pear there when Sophie’s dad Kevin (Michael Le Vell) reported Jenna to her boss at the hospital after he witnessed the pair kissing.
A livid Sophie told him that it was she who instigated the kiss, but regardless, Kevin was determined to cause trouble for Jenna…
But in the episode that airs on January 21st, Sophie will tell Jenna (Krissi Bohn) that she’s going to go to tell her boss that it was she who kissed Jenna, and will add that the physiotherapist rebuffed her.
Jenna will be touched that Sophie’s willing to lie for her, but will she let her go through with it?
Well, we’ll have to wait and see, but as Jenna’s about to admit to her dad Lloyd (Craig Charles) that she does indeed have feelings for Sophie, it could be that Jenna will have a choice to make; her career or her love life!
For now, here’s a look at what’s coming up on Corrie on the 18th…
