Coronation Street star Jane Danson says Leanne will be “devastated” by Peter and Carla

by Lynn Connolly

Corrie star Jane Danson has told Soaplife that when her character Leanne Barlow learns that her husband Peter (Chris Gascoyne) has yet again lied to her over her arch rival Carla Connor (Alison King).

As fans of the show will know, Carla has frequently told Peter that she loves him and wants to be with him, but he’s always turned her down, saying that Leanne is the love of his life…

However, after Peter saves Carla from committing suicide after her fiancé Frank Foster (Andrew Lancel) attacks and rapes her, he becomes Carla’s main source of comfort, which Peter hides from Leanne.

Peter also fails to tell Leanne that Carla called off her wedding to Frank the night before the marriage should’ve taken place, which is what prompted the vicious attack…

When asked, “How does Leanne feel when Peter tells her Frank raped Carla?” Jane replied, “She’s concerned, as any woman would be, but to be honest it makes her more suspicious of Carla and Peter’s relationship.

“She wonders if it was because of Peter that Carla called off the wedding.”

Soaplife then asked Jane how Leanne feels when she finds out that in the aftermath of the attack on Carla, Peter himself attacks Frank.

She said, “Leanne’s horrified when she hears about it. She demands to know why he’s being so protective of Carla and suggests his feelings for her are much deeper than he’s letting on.”

Jane went on to reveal that after Frank’s arrested for attacking Carla, Leanne goes to see him to get to the bottom of all that’s gone on between Peter and Carla.

Of that, Jane said, “She visits him in prison because she needs answers.

“She senses Peter and Carla are not being truthful, but believes Frank has no reason to lie.

“To find out Peter knew it was Carla who really ran down Stella is shocking.

“It’s a huge betrayal considering it was her mother who was almost killed.”

Tune in next week to see the start of that dramatic storyline.
