Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell cancels all public appearances fearing he’ll get “lynched”
Fans of Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell will surely be aware that he’s currently suspended from the show pending the outcome of charges brought in relation to allegations of historic sexual abuse…
And it has of course been widely reported that Michael – whose real name is Michael Turner – strenuously denies any wrong doing and hopes that he will be exonerated when his case is heard in court later this month.
However, it’s been reported today that the actor has cancelled all his scheduled personal appearances – and is choosing not to leave his home if he can avoid it – for the foreseeable future amid concerns that he could be “lynched” if he goes out…
The Daily Star reports, “Though his Corrie buddies are supporting him, he is keeping his distance to spare them any abuse.
“He has stopped going to see his favourite football team Manchester United play for fear of terrace taunts.”
He also cancelled his Twitter account after he was subjected to death threats in the wake of the news that he had been arrested over the alleged sex offences.
A friend of Michael’s told the paper, “It’s shocking to see how his life has changed since all this blew up.
“He’s too scared to live his life in public because he’s worried he’ll get lynched.
“All the things he enjoys have been taken away from him. He can’t go to see United or go to the pub. It’s a nightmare.”
One of Michael’s sisters, Glenis, added, “It’s a really tough time for him. He’s obviously going through hell.”
His other sister Susan remarked, “I’m here to protect him and that is what I will do.”
We will of course keep you posted on any further developments. For now, here’s a reminder of Michael on Corrie…
