Coronation Street: The Week Ahead…..

Sunday 22 April 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Eileen comes under increasing pressure to give Holly back

Eileen (Sue Cleaver) still won’t listen to reason about Emma’s pleas for Holly to be returned to her, despite Jason’s (Ryan Thomas) shock departure from the Grimshaws. When Eileen then finds out he’s stopping at the Platts’ her anger boils over and she goes to slap him. Jason accuses his mum of being selfish, convinced keeping Holly is more about her needs than anyone else’s, but Eileen refuses to be swayed. It’s left to Claire (Julia Haworth) to then plead Emma’s case, arguing she may have been suffering from post natal depression when she dumped her baby. Will she be able to change Eileen’s mind?

It’s Gail’s (Helen Worth) birthday and as Audrey (Sue Nicholls) and Bill (Peter Armitage) prepare to mark the occasion they enlist David’s (Jack P Shepherd) help in hanging a huge birthday banner on the street. The big 5-0 is clear for all to see, much to David’s amusement, but how will Gail react, especially when she spots one glaring mistake?

Liam (Rob James-Collier) is refusing to give up on Leanne (Jane Danson) after their night together and as they share a drink in the Rovers he tries to persuade her to go for dinner. Will Leanne give into his charms or will her job come first?

Meanwhile, over at the factory, the girls still aren’t convinced with the Connors’ explanation about Kasia’s death and when they spot Carla (Alison King) and Paul (Sean Gallagher) laughing after a big shopping trip they’re shocked by their disrespectful behaviour. It seems the gulf between the management and the staff is widening.

Monday 23 April 7.30 – 8pm ITV1

Eileen comes to a decision about Holly

Eileen (Sue Cleaver) seems to have come to a decision about Holly following her realisation that if she doesn’t give Holly back she’ll be taken away anyway . As she busies herself packing Holly’s things Violet (Jenny Platt) and Sean (Antony Cotton) try to sympathise but Eileen doesn’t want to hear it. And when Gail (Helen Worth) then calls round to talk about Jason’s (Ryan Thomas) move to the Platts’ she suddenly realises things aren’t as they seem. What is Eileen planning?

As the Connors try to get back to work as normal at Underworld they can sense the unrest coming from the girls. Deciding something needs to be done Paul (Sean Gallagher) announces to the staff that he’s organising a collection for Kasia’s family. Will it be enough to convince the girls that it’s time to move on?

There’s tension in the Barlow household as Ken (William Roache) and Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) continue at each other’s throats following Tracy’s trial. When Claire (Julia Haworth) then calls round, worrying that it was her who lost the court case for Tracy, Ken can’t take anymore. Fed up of the guilt others are suffering he reveals the truth about Tracy’s confession. How will Deirdre react to his announcement?

And Jerry (Michael Starke) seeks permission from Gail and Claire to put a shed in the Mortons’ garden. Surely that can’t cause any problems, can it?

Monday 23 April 8.30 – 9pm ITV1

Eileen prepares to make her getaway with Holly

Gail’s (Helen Worth) stunned as Eileen (Sue Cleaver) reveals she intends to run away with Holly. Hurrying to the builders yard she tells Jason (Ryan Thomas) he needs to get home quickly and talk to his mum. At the Grimshaws’ Jason argues that if she leaves everyone will think she’s stealing Holly but Eileen doesn’t care anymore as she says her goodbyes to her son. Will Eileen make her escape?

Sally (Sally Whittaker) and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) have been nominated to confront the Connors about the truth behind Kasia’s death. But as they face up to the brothers the girls are quickly fobbed off. When Paul (Sean Gallagher) then makes an announcement saying that stirring up trouble will only harm the firm and everyone working there the girls are left with the feeling that the subject has now been closed and there’s very little they can do about it.

Elsewhere, Gail and Claire (Julia Haworth) can’t believe their eyes when they see Jerry (Michael Starke) taking delivery of the shed they OK’d – as it’s crane-lifted into his garden! It’s the biggest shed they’ve ever seen and the neighbours are soon arguing. But what does Jerry intend to do with his giant structure?

And Derek’s (David Hounslow) back at the Rovers flirting with Liz (Beverley Callard). She’s clearly smitten and when he suggests they make a date at a hotel so they can see each other again she can’t resist.

Wednesday 25 April 7.30 – 8pm ITV1

Eileen faces up to the inevitable as she prepares to hand Holly over to social services

Today’s the day Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) due to give Holly up but despite the brave face she’s putting on it’s clear she’s suffering inside. Sean (Antony Cotton) and Violet (Jenny Platt) try to rally her along as they take some final snaps of the pair but Eileen finds all the sympathy too much. As the inevitable approaches and social services arrive Eileen can hardly bear to let Holly go. Will she be able to hand her over?

Liz (Beverley Callard) has told Vernon (Ian Reddington) she’s off to a brewery do as she heads out to meet Derek (David Hounslow) for their hotel date. She’s nervous but thrilled by the excitement of it all and when Derek suggests they head upstairs after their drinks it looks like Liz can’t help herself. Is she about to betray Vernon?

Over at Underworld, Paul (Sean Gallagher) is convinced that everything will be sweet with the workforce now he’s got Sally (Sally Whittaker) on side. But the girls are still unhappy knowing they’ve been played for fools and Liam’s (Rob James-Collier) fed up with the bad atmosphere.

There’s tension at the Barlows as well as Ken (William Roache) and Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) struggle to connect. When Blanche (Maggie Jones) then arrives back from her holiday the couple are strangely glad to have her home.

Friday 27 April 7.30 – 8pm ITV1

Vera comes a cropper

Blanche (Maggie Jones) has noticed that all is not well with Ken (William Roache) and Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) but is convinced that with a bit of TLC they will be as right as rain. Ken is certainly trying to make an effort and cooks dinner for Deirdre. But Deirdre can’t cope with Ken’s attempts at being nice to her and confides in Liz (Beverly Callard) that she is finding it really hard not to blame him for everything.

Carla (Alison King) is excited that she has got some new orders so is more than a little put out when she finds a space where her desk used to be. She is furious with Paul (Sean Gallagher) and Liam (Rob James Collier) for leaving her high and dry. Michelle (Kym Ryder) is curious as to why Liam and Paul are freezing Carla out and tackles Paul about what secret they are keeping from her.

Vera (Eizabeth Dawn) wants Jack (William Tarmey) to start pulling his weight around the house and make more of an effort to keep the house tidy. He makes a start on the cleaning but Vera can’t see much of an improvement. Annoyed she heads off upstairs but Jack hears an almighty crash and rushes in to the hall to found Vera sprawled at the bottom of the stairs – it seems his attempts at cleaning stretched only as far as moving a pile of pigeon mags onto the stairs!

Liz enjoyed her night out with Derek (David Hounslow) but advises him not to come round to the pub too much otherwise people will start talking. He tells her about a flat they can have the use of – will Liz be tempted?
