Eileen (Sue Cleaver) is stunned by Emma’s (Stephanie Wareing) claims that Charlie is in fact Holly’s dad and refuses to accept that the child she has cared for for almost four months is not her flesh and blood after all. She queries Emma’s motives - is she actually concerned about the baby or is she really after Charlie’s money? As Emma leaves empty handed Eileen wonders how she is going to break the news to Jason (Ryan Thomas).

Mel and Darryl Morton celebrate their 18th birthday in style

It’s a hectic morning in the Morton household and it appears that Mel (Emma Edmondson) and Darryl (Jonathan Dixon) may even have forgotten it is their 18th birthday. But they soon remember when Jerry (Michael Starke) presents them with a car. Mel isn’t too keen at the thought of having to share it with her less than responsible twin. Later the party gets off to a swinging start with Jerry inviting all the neighbours in order to avoid complaints about the music. Initially unsure about the unruly clan, Gail (Helen Worth) is soon enjoying the party a little more than she had thought she would!

One resident not in the party spirit is Eileen (Sue Cleaver) who has a call from her social worker. She knows she now has a fight on her hands to keep baby Holly but she still has the task of telling Jason (Ryan Thomas) that he isn’t Holly’s dad. How will he react?

At the factory, Janice (Vicky Entwistle) is still feeling terrible about what has happened to Joanne (Zaraah Abrahams) and her guilt is compounded when a shattered and broken Joanne returns and everyone offers to write glowing references for her to support her appeal.

Eileen begs Jason not to reject Holly

Eileen (Sue Cleaver) is praying that Jason (Ryan Thomas) won’t reject Holly after her revelation in Wednesday’s episode. Jason meanwhile is confused about his feelings. He was rail roaded into caring for Holly but now he has bonded with her he isn’t sure he can give her up even if she is Charlie’s. Sarah (Tina O’Brien) is sympathetic but makes it clear it has to be his decision. Will he agree to help Eileen fight for Holly?

There are a few sore heads over at the Mortons’ and next door Gail (Helen Worth) is feeling pretty rough but can’t remember exactly why she feels so bad. It isn’t until Jerry (Michael Starke) starts loudly mending the fence that the memory of the previous evening’s events comes flooding back to her.

Vernon (Ian Reddington) has done another one of his disappearing acts so when Derek (David Hounslow) calls at the pub, Liz (Beverly Callard) doesn’t say no to the offer of a date. She’s stunned therefore when Vernon finally returns and surprises her with a proposal! Will she accept?

Meanwhile, at the factory, Liam (Rob James Collier) thinks that Carla (Alison King) is pushing the girls too hard but she’s confident that it won’t be long before she’s out of the red when the order is finished. Paul (Sean Gallagher) admits he is proud of how well his wife has done.
