Coronation Street To Air In America?

Despite its status of being Britain’s longest running soap opera, Coronation Street has never made the jump Stateside. That could all be about to change if the MD of ITV studios gets his way.
ITV are said to be considering making the soap available to American viewers on an on demand basis, though they would have over seven thousand episodes to catch up on if they want to get properly up to speed!
Speaking last week at a Broadcasting Press Guild event Lee Bartlett, an American himself, is reported to have stated: “I am always working on this… this is something I personally am interested in.”
Bartlett went on to outline his vision, noting: “What an interesting proposition if I could get 20 people to go, ‘Oh, this is really cool and I can even understand it’, and then they tell their friends, and they tell their friends, and I could have 10 million people streaming it in six weeks.”
He added that he was “a huge believer in non-linear distribution of television.”
