I never saw Tony Gordon as the caring kind with a good bedside manner but he may just surprise us yet.

Maria Connor is set to go into labour next month and in true Coronation Street style she doesn’t do it anywhere near a hospital, no she’s with Mr Schizo on a remote beach.

When Maria complains about going over her due date Eileen Grimshaw tells her: “There’s nothing better than a bracing walk to hurry up baby’s arrival.”

So Tony takes her to the beach but as he chases her dog Ozzy with a frisbee, Maria’s contractions start.

Tony comforts her as he carries her to safety saying: “Everything will be OK, but we’ve got to get off this beach now. So just try to relax and enjoy the ride.”

The baby boy is born and duly named after his dad but it’s Tony that he claps eyes on first. How will Maria feel about that when she finds out who really killed Liam…….
