Why is it that no one in soapland seems to have their babies in hospital anymore?

Just before Christmas we saw Tanya from Eastenders deliver Oscar in her sitting room, and next month we will be treated to the sight of Violet in Corrie labouring behind the bar of the Rovers Return.

Thankfully Violet won’t be alone when the event takes place and in a blind stroke of luck, Seans boyfriend Marcus, who just happens to be a nurse is on hand to make sure baby Dylan is safe and sound.

If real life worked like soapland, midwives in the Uk would all be out of work!
