Coronation Street’s Mikey North (Gary Windass) to face Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) in All Star Family Fortunes!

Two of our favourite soap stars are about to go head to head in the new series of popular ITV quiz show, All Star Family Fortunes, in a bid to win money for their chosen charities.

Coronation Street star, Mikey North, who plays father to be Gary Windass in the hit ITV1 soap, will take on Emmerdale star and Dancing On Ice champ, Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe in the battle hosted by Vernon Kay.

Fans of both shows will know how Mikey’s Corrie character is currently at the centre of one of the show’s most controversial storylines as he and his girlfriend, wheel chair bound Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) have enlisted the help of good friend, Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) to be a surrogate for them after an early miscarriage made them decide that Izzy wasn’t strong enough to carry their child herself.

Meanwhile, Matthew’s Emmerdale character, David, is currently caught up in a heart-breaking love triangle after his pretend wife, Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) admitted she loved him despite their wedding being a sham to gain David custody of Alicia’s young son whilst she was sent to prison recently.

Alicia is out of jail now, and was hoping that the time apart would have lead David to the same conclusion of love over their relationship, but was left devastated when she discovered that whilst she had been away David had fallen for fellow Woolpack barmaid, Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade).

Both actors are considered as two of the nicest characters in soap land at the moment, but both will be taking the gloves off as their families join them to tackle the iconic competition.

One question which will be firmly on everyone’s minds will be just which family members they will be taking with them, as Matthew is currently engaged to fellow Emmerdale star, Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle).

Other stars taking part in this year’s ITV show, due to start tomorrow night (January 6th) include Richard Bacon, who will take on eccentric ex-Dancing On Ice judge and Pineapple Studio owner, Louie Spence whilst The Only Way Is Essex star James “Arg” Agent will face WAG and former Emmerdale actress Sheree Murphy, who is married to Australian international footballer, Harry Kewell.

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, and wife of Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, is also set to take part this year as well as Premiership star Michael Owen, Loose Women’s Sherrie Hewson and Paralympic gold medallist Jonnie Peacock.

The celebrity charity version of Family Fortunes, originally presented by Les Dennis with members of the public taking part for personal cash, has raised more than £1million for charity since its launch in 2006.
