Corrie: Alan Halsall on Tyrone’s worsening home life and Bill Roache on promiscuity!
Coronation Street star Alan Halsall – who’s married to former co-star and Wild at Heart actress Lucy-Jo Hudson – has revealed that things are set to get a whole lot worse for mechanic Tyrone Dobbs who’s struggling to cope with his fiancé Kirsty Soames’ violent outbursts.
Alan, who’s also starred in Heartbeat, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates and Queer As Folk, told the PA, “Natalie [Gumede who plays Kirsty] the Weatherfield basher has got a big story coming up this summer.
“Let’s just say Tyrone’s going to be well bruised.”
Alan made his comments while attending the Baftas recently, alongside the show’s executive producer, Phil Collinson, who was delighted with the awards the show landed…
He said, “It’s always a surprise because you don’t allow yourself to think you’ve won or you’d just go home disappointed.”
Another man who’s apparently not used to going home disappointed – after a date anyway – is Bill Roache, who of course plays Ken Barlow.
However, despite the recent headlines in which it was claimed Bill had told Piers Morgan that he’s bedded around a thousand women, Bill decried promiscuity as a way of life.
He said, “It is not something to boast about. I recommend you meet someone and fall in love.”
And of the interview with Piers, Bill revealed he hadn’t actually made the ‘magic number’ claim at all, and it only came about when Piers hinted that the number of sexual conquests Bill had had was larger than he was admitting.
To which Bill replied, “Well, I’m not denying it. There were plenty of girls around. I shouldn’t have done it.
“I didn’t have any control over my own sex drive.”
However, Bill is now happy in his stable relationship with former weathergirl Emma Jesson.
