Corrie: Are Sean Tully and Marcus Dent going to split up?! O no!
Corrie gay couple Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Marcus Dent’s relationship has had its fair share of problems, and after they’d been dating for year from 2007 to 2008, they split up, but were reunited in April 2011.
Since then, they’ve seemed stronger than ever, with both sharing a close bond over, and with, Sean’s son Dylan, however, according to Charlie Condou who of course plays Marcus, there are troubles ahead for the couple.
While appearing on Lorraine Kelly’s breakfast show, Charlie – who used to share a flat with Take That star Robbie Williams – said of Sean and Marcus, “I think they love each other very much, they really do…
“But Sean’s not the most grown up man in the world. He gets very jealous and he’s quite a vulnerable character.
“I think that’s part of the attraction; Marcus loves looking after him. He’s one of life’s carers…
“But I think that ultimately is really going to start to rub [Marcus] up the wrong way; the fact that he can’t have a proper grown up relationship.”
Of late, we have of course seen that Marcus’s BFF Maria Connor (Samia Smith) is developing romantic feelings for him, which, given that he’s gay, are surely doomed to end in heartache for her!
However, Charlie revealed that it’s not Marcus’ close relationship with Maria that puts the cat among Sean’s pigeons; it’s Marcus’ friendship with work colleague Aiden (Toby Sawyer) that’s going to “get very complicated.”
Charlie said, “The lovely and very handsome Toby Sawyer is coming back. He’s started filming already and he’s back for a little while.
“So Marcus’ love life is definitely going to get very complicated over the next few months.”
Aww, I hope they don’t split up, but at the same time, if they were to, I’d kinda like to see Marcus being with Maria, because what a mixed up complex plotline that would be!
Would you like to see the storyline develop in that way?

As much as they say opposites attract, I’ve never thought Sean and Marcus were well suited. While Sean provides humour, he is essentially an over 35 year old working as a barman and a machinist in a knicker factory. He boards with Eileen and really has no prospects. In comparison, Marcus was a sonoographer, I believe he is a nurse/midwife in a respected profession. He has a good future.
