Corrie boss Phil Collinson may blow up the Rovers before he leaves the show!

Coronation Street’s series producer Phil Collinson has revealed that he’s leaving the job at the end of the year, and he’d apparently like to out with a bang via the medium of blowing up The Rovers!

Phil, who’s spearheaded some of the show’s most controversial storylines and character introductions, such as bringing in Michelle Collins to play Stella Price, revealed earlier on this year that he would be leaving the show this year.

However, of his plan to end his reign with a super dramatic storyline, such as an explosion at the pub, some of the cast members are apparently worried that he might kill their characters off before he goes.

A show source told the Daily Mirror, “Blowing up the Rovers would be the most dramatic thing to happen on the Street.

“Phil thinks millions of extra viewers would tune in…

“But it means everyone on in the show is looking over their shoulder wondering if they’ll be inside when the pub goes up in smoke.

“A lot of the cast are wondering what the future holds.”

As mentioned, Collinson has been behind some of the show’s most dramatic plots, including the tram crash that played out during the show’s 50th anniversary episodes in December 2010.

He also okayed that John Stape murder storyline and the rape storyline which climaxed with Frank Foster being murdered by his mother.

The paper adds, “A Street spokesman yesterday declined to comment on when Collinson would go.”
