Corrie bosses edit body in canal scenes after Stone Roses’ fan found in similar circumstances

It’s been revealed today that an upcoming episode of Coronation Street has been edited after the body of Stone Roses fan Christopher Brahney was sadly found in a canal in Manchester.

The scenes in question – which the show’s bosses felt would be insensitive to air – featured police finding a body in a canal, and suspecting it could belong to missing bookie Peter Barlow, they ask his dad Ken (Bill Roache) and girlfriend Carla (Alison King) to identify the remains.

However, in the storyline, it turns out the body isn’t Peter’s (Chris Gascoyne) but as a mark of respect to Christopher, who went missing after watching Stone Roses play live in Manchester recently, the show’s writers have edited out references to the canal…

Tragic Christopher’s body was found at Salford Quays on July 9th.

An ITV spokesperson said, “What we have removed is multiple references to a body being found in a canal.

“We have made the change so the finding referenced by a policeman is now broader, simply a body being found, no reference to where.

“Like many others, we were extremely saddened by the news of his death, and our thoughts and condolences are with his family.”

The members of Stone Roses, who appealed for help in finding Christopher following his disappearance, have since offered their condolences to his family and friends.
