This year’s ITV charity appeal, Text Santa, is set to feature some of the biggest names in entertainment as it hopes to top the amount of money raised for good causes during last year’s appeal…
And as part of the Text Santa show, which will air on Friday the 21st of December, Daybreak presenter Lorraine Kelly has achieved a lifelong ambition by landing a role on Coronation Street!
She and Benidorm actress Sheila Reid play the roles of police officers who’re called to a disturbance on the Street…
And as you can see in the clip below of Lorraine’s scene, her character has to try to prise a bottle of eggnog out of feisty Tina McIntyre’s (Michelle Keegan) hands!
Of getting to act a role on Corrie, Lorraine told The Sun, “I am beside myself. I am a massive fan of Coronation Street and have been since I was a little girl.
“It’s always been an ambition of mine to appear, even if it’s just in the background of the Rovers.
“But this is even better, because I get to play a character.”
The paper adds, “Girl group Little Mix, pictured behind the bar, put their talents to good use, performing in the pub.
“And ex-Corrie actress Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth) also makes a comeback as a ghost in the ITV1 show, based on A Christmas Carol.”
Liz was of course supposed to be joined for the special scene by Bill Tarmey, who played her on-screen hubby Jack Duckworth, however, he sadly passed away last month.
Here’s a look at Lorraine and Sheila in their Corrie scene…
And here’s what ITV say of this year’s Text Santa…
As the nation now turns its attention to the festive season, we’re starting to reveal what treats we have in-store for our viewers in our live charity appeal show on Friday the 21st of December.
Starting with the announcement of our exciting line-up of talent presenting this year’s appeal; Ant & Dec, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and Christine Bleakley will be returning and joined by much loved TV personality Paddy McGuinness to lead us through the entertainment extravaganza. It will all be in aid of raising money for six UK charities – helping someone near you.
The evening programme will follow a day of Text Santa programming across ITV1. It will combine exciting live studio entertainment and star guests, alongside mini-episodes of some of ITV’s leading shows, including a festive Coronation Street special with some extraordinary ghostly cameo appearances!
Our aim is to smash last year’s fantastic total of raising over £4.1 million. With the support of our partners – Asda, Vodafone and Santander, we’ll be sharing with you ways you can get involved too in the run up to the show. We’re all about putting the ‘fun’ into fundraising, and want to create some festive magic this year in return for your support in our quest to make a real difference.
