Corrie: Eileen’s under pressure at Lesley’s funeral, and Leanne shocks Peter! (VIDEO)
In tonight’s episodes of Coronation Street, there’s no let up in the unrelenting misery for poor old Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) when her former boyfriend Paul Kershaw (Tony Hirst) pleads with her to attend his wife Lesley’s funeral with him.
As fans of the show will know, after Paul accused Eileen of being responsible for Lesley’s death by leaving her in the house alone, she threw him out, and the pair haven’t spoken since.
However, when they do reunite for the emotional service, Lesley’s sister Yvonne (Dorothy Atkinson) is not happy to see Eileen there, given she knows all about the rather odd ménage a trois that was Lesley’s life shortly before she died.
During his eulogy to Lesley (Judy Holt) Paul tells the mourners, “I was living with a complete stranger by the end…”
To which Yvonne whispers to Eileen, “Funny, I thought he was living with you by then.”
And that’s not the last of her acerbic sarcasm, for when Paul says, “Sweet dreams, Lesley. You’ll live with me forever.”
Yvonne snipes, “Or until the wake’s over, anyway.”
Back on the Street Leanne Barlow (Jane Danson) causes yet more trouble for her estranged husband Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and his new love Carla Connor (Alison King) when she makes it public knowledge that Carla tried to bribe her to drop the custody battle for little Simon (Alex Bain).
The dramatic revelation comes when Peter and Carla are being interviewed by the Cafcass officer who’s charged with finding out all she can about Simon’s home life.
But will the angry revelation sway the Cafcass officer’s opinion of Peter and Carla? Well, that remains to be seen, but for now, here’s a sneak peek from tonight’s show…
