Corrie: Eva Price’s stirring sees Nick Tilsley getting into a punch up with Peter Barlow!

by Lynn Connolly

In next Monday’s visit to Coronation Street, Leanne and Peter Barlow are trying to stay on good terms for Simon’s sake, but when Peter suggests that he come back to work at the bookies – where of course Leanne has been working alone since Peter left Weatherfield temporarily earlier this year – her fiancé Nick isn’t impressed…

However, he grudgingly agrees that it could work when Peter (Chris Gascoyne) suggests that he and Leanne (Jane Danson) can work opposite shifts.

But when Nick’s too busy to go ice-skating with Leanne and Simon (Alex Bain) he’s further angered when Peter goes instead, and it’s soon apparent that the family day out reminds both Leanne and Peter of happier times…

And little Simon captures it on camera when his mum and dad share a loving look, and interfering Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) makes sure Nick (Ben Price) sees the pictures so that he begins to worry about Peter and Leanne’s apparent closeness.

Eva is of course going to do everything possible to break Nick and Leanne up, and to that end, in the episode that airs on the 21st, when Nick mentions to Eva that he’s going to Simon’s nativity play, she comes up with a plan…

She’ll make a fake party booking at the Bistro, and, reluctantly, Nick has to cancel going to the play because he’ll be too busy.

However, when the group fail to show up, Nick smells a rat and mistakenly assumes Peter was behind it in order to have Leanne to himself at Simon’s play.

So a furious Nick storms round to the school to have it out with Peter, much to Leanne’s embarrassment as he furiously accuses Peter of making the hoax booking at the bistro.

Peter denies all knowledge and Leanne tells Nick to stop causing a scene, but Nick sees red and fists fly!

Is this fracas going to drive a wedge between Nick and Leanne? Well, we’ll find out as of course their wedding on Christmas Day promises to be a dramatic cliffhanger for viewers.

In the meantime, here’s a reminder of ITV’s Christmas trailer…
