As fans of Coronation Street will know, Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) recently suffered a miscarriage, and it traumatized her so much, she told her boyfriend Gary Windass (Mikey North) that she just can’t face ever becoming pregnant again…

He was understandably devastated by the declaration, but he of course understood and accepted that he may never become a father.

However, Izzy’s sister Katy (Georgia May Foote) is about to make an astonishing offer to the couple when she suggests that she become a surrogate mother and carry a baby for them!

And while it is of course a lovely gesture, it’s clear from the get go that Katy hasn’t properly thought through the ramifications of her offer, and nor has she consulted boyfriend Chesney…

We’ll see Katy making the magnanimous offer in the episode that air on Thursday – we have a preview clip for you below – but of it, Sam Aston who of course plays Chesney, told ITV, “I think [Chesney] may struggle with the birth as it would bring back memories of baby Joseph.

“This may lead to problems with giving the baby to Izzy and Gary, as Katy and Chesney may grow attached.”

However, despite initially being wary of the plan, Sam revealed that Ches, “starts warming to the idea.”
